摘要： A meter such as a speedometer for use in an automobile instrument panel includes a pointer driven by a stepping motor. A pulse voltage having a wider pulse width is supplied to the stepping motor to obtain a higher induced voltage to be compared with a threshold voltage for detecting the pointer-zero-position. After the pointer-zero-position is detected, the stepping motor is driven by a pulse voltage having a narrower pulse width to obtain a quicker response of the pointer. In this manner, the pointer-zero-position is accurately adjusted without sacrificing the quick response of the meter pointer.

摘要： The rotor (40d) of the step by step motor is positioned on the rear side of the circuit card (30). Its poles (46b,47b) extend from the magnet cores (46) through the circuit card to face the rotor (40d). Soldering of the field winding onto the circuit card is done by a 'refusion' or 'wave' method. The dashboard includes: (a) a graduated plaque (10); (b) a pointer finger (50) rotated on an axis (45a); (c) a drive (40) designed to rotate the pointer finger, which includes a step by step motor; (d) a circuit card (30) designed to electrically connect the motor field winding (48,49), positioned on the rear side of the plaque so that an interior space is formed between the plaque and the circuit card; (e) the field winding (48) and the magnetic cores (46) are supported by the circuit card. The field winding is electrically connected to the circuit card by soldering.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately detect induced voltage of field winding of a step motor by lengthening the update time of an AC signal applying to the step motor for causing an indication action to the pointer in the detection of a zero-returning position of a pointer in an indicating instrument of a vehicle for using the step motor as a driving source. SOLUTION: A phase and B phase driving voltage is applied to the step motor in two times longer update time t2 (correspond to pulse width W1) than the update time t1 corresponding to pulse width W1 in usual driving. Therefore, since the induced voltage producing in field winding of the step motor sufficiently builds up in the update time t2, a step 130 is judged with the induced voltage, and adjustment of the zero-returning position and stop of applying the driving voltage are conducted in the engaging of the pointer with a stopper.
