    • The present invention is directed to broccoli and other B. oleracea plants, resistant to white blister rust caused by the oomycete Albugo Candida race 9 Australian variant, having in its genome introgressed sequences conferring the resistance, wherein said introgressed sequences are located on chromosome 4, within the chromosomal region delimited by SNP BO-0108436 (SEQ ID No:5) and SNP BN-0067793 (SEQ ID No: 15), preferably within the region delimited by SNP BO-0108436 (SEQ ID No:5) and SNP BO-0108751 (SEQ ID No:11), characterized inter alia by allele C of SNP BO-0108746 (SEQ ID No:6). The invention also provides methods that produce or identify B. oleracea , especially broccoli plants that display resistance to infection by Australian variant of A. candida race 9, as well as selection methods. The present invention also discloses molecular genetic markers, especially SNPs, linked to the resistance locus.
