    • The invention provides a method for the Industrial purification of a titanium feed stream of purity P1 , by the formation of a titanium-double-salt precipitate of purity P2 and a titanium solution with purity P3, wherein P2>P1 >P3, the method comprising the steps of: i. forming, from the feed, a medium comprising water, titanium ion, a cation selected from the group consisting of ammonium, cations of alkali metals, protons and a combination thereof, and an anion selected from the group consisting of OH, SO4, HSO4, halides and a combination thereof, which formed medium is further characterized by the presence of (a) a double-salt precipitate comprising titanium ion, at least one of the cations and at least one of the anions; and (b) a titanium solution; and wherein the concentration of the anion in the titanium solution is higher than 15% and the ratio between the concentrations of the cation and the anion in the titanium solution is higher than 0.2 and lower than 1.6; and ii. separating at least a portion of the precipitate from the solution.

    • A method for the production of a protein-containing substance is disclosed. The method includes providing a starting material comprising a protein, a sugar and a phytate. The method also includes extracting with a solvent at least a fraction of the sugar and at least a fraction of the phytate from the starting material to form at least one purified proteinous material and at least one extract. The method includes separating the at least one purified proteinous material from the at least one extract to form a separated purified proteinous material and a separated extract. The method includes incorporating the separated purified proteinous material in at least one product. The solvent comprises at least one of water and aqueous solutions. The pH of the solvent during at least part of the extraction differs from pI by at least about 0.2 pH units, wherein pI is the isoelectric point of the protein. A food comprising a protein-containing substance derived from a starting material having protein and phytate, the food comprising at least about 70 percent of the protein of the starting material and less than about 60 percent of the phytate of the starting material is also disclosed.

    • A process for the production of purified isoflavones from a starting material resulting from a biological source is disclosed. The starting material includes at least one isoflavone in its conjugate form and at least one impurity. The process includes adjusting the concentration of the starting material in an aqueous medium so that the concentration of the isoflavone conjugates therein is greater than about 20 percent (%) of saturation, but smaller than saturation, whereby there is formed an isoflavone purified solution comprising a purified isoflavone conjugate and an isoflavone-depleted precipitate containing the impurity, and wherein the isoflavone-depleted precipitate contains, after washing, less than about 20 percent (%) of the isoflavone conjugate present in the starting material. The process also includes separating the isoflavone purified solution from the isoflavone-depleted precipitate. The process also includes separating the isoflavone from the isoflavone purified solution. A purified polyphenol produced from a starting material resulting from a biological source is also disclosed. A process for the production of purified isoflavones from a starting material is also disclosed.

    • The present invention provides a method for the production of small-size titanium oxide particles, comprising the steps of: e) providing a solid containing titanic acid; f) contacting the solid with an acidic aqueous medium thereby forming an aqueous precursor solution at given conditions of temperature lower than 100 °C, Titanium cation concentration lower than 20wt% and higher than 0.1wt%, pH lower than 1 and strong acid concentration higher than 2.5 % and lower than 30 %; g) optionally, adding one or more capping agents to the aqueous precursor solution; and h) modifying at least one of the conditions of the aqueous precursor and maintaining the aqueous precursor at the modified conditions, whereupon precipitation of a precipitate comprising small-size titanium oxide particles takes place, the modifications being selected from at least one of temperature elevation by at least 5 °C and pH elevation by at least 0.1 pH units.
