[Class 51 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A gas burner comprises a substantially closed chamber with an inlet having a number of small passages to which gas mixture is supplied, an inner lining of high temperature refractory material being formed with a single restricted outlet from which issues a stream of high temperature combustion products at a high velocity. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the burner comprises a metal shell 11 secured to a base 12 and enclosing the refractory body made in two parts 21, 22, the former having a single orifice 25. The inlet passages are formed by channels 28 in a refractory, threaded member 27, having a flattened head, screwed into a nipple connection 14. The outlet may be formed as a long, narrow slit in a projecting portion of the lining, or as a ring. The metal shell may be fitted with a jacket through which the fuel mixture passes to the inlet, and the inner walls of the lining may be ridged. Figs. 12, 13 and 14 show a form in which an elongated and irregular outlet 25e is located in a recess 49 in which the work may be placed. The base has a number of separate inlets 15e, the fuel mixture passing through passages 41e formed between thin plates stacked together ; cross ribs 46e are provided in the inlet chambers 34e. The combustion chamber 23e is elliptical in section and the casing is fitted with a cooling jacket 11e.

摘要： A method and apparatus for reducing NO x emissions in a gas burner in which the burner includes a burner supply for supplying fuel gas and primary air to the furnace and projecting the fuel gas into the furnace, a secondary air supply for supplying secondary air to the burner, and a recirculating device for mixing the secondary air with the spent gases inside the furnace, which is then recirculated and combusted to reduce NO x gases. The method of the invention includes the steps of supplying fuel gas and primary air to the furnace, projecting the fuel gas into the furnace, combusting the fuel gas and primary gas to produce spent gases, supplying secondary air to the furnace, mixing the secondary air with the spent gases inside the furnace to produce diluted air, and recirculating and combusting the diluted air with the fuel gas and primary air to reduce NO x emissions.
