摘要： An apparatus (20) for de-aering, oxygenating and controlling a temperature of blood in an extracorporeal blood circuit. The apparatus includes a housing (22), a manifold body (24), a heat exchanger (26), and an oxygenator (28). A blood inlet (32) tangentially directs blood into a first chamber of the housing. The manifold body is disposed in a second chamber, and includes a core (100) and a plurality of vanes (102) that define channels. The heat exchanger is arranged around the manifold body, and the oxygenator around the heat exchanger. The channels are open to the heat exchanger. An established blood flow path includes rotational flow within the first chamber to separate air from the blood, generally longitudinal flow from the first chamber and along the channels, and generally radial flow through the heat exchanger and the oxygenator. With this construction, gross air removal occurs prior to the blood passing through the heat exchanger and oxygenator.

摘要： A fluid distribution element for transporting heating or cooling fluid to or from a series of heat exchanger channels, said element comprising; at least one port extending through the element in a first direction; at least one localised distribution cavity shaped so as to allow said series of heat exchanger channels to open into said cavity and spaced apart from the port in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction; and at least one passageway connecting the port to the localised distribution cavity such that fluid passing through said port can be transported through said passageway into said cavity for localised distribution to said series of heat exchanger channels, the passageway being narrower than the port and the cavity in a third direction perpendicular to said first and second directions. By aligning a number of fluid distribution elements in the first direction, the ports define a header through the stacked assembly, each port having an associated localised distribution cavity for supplying a series of heat exchanger channels with fluid.

摘要： A hierarchical traffic management system and method (i.e., a QoS behavioral model) are disclosed herein. The system includes a classifier (30) operable to identify and classify incoming traffic streams and a queuing system. The queuing system (20) includes a plurality of queues and is operable to apply scheduling policies to the traffic streams. The queues (40) of the queuing system each include enqueue attributes configured to control a depth of the queue and dequeue attributes configured to control scheduling of the queue. The dequeue attributes include minimum bandwidth, maximum bandwidth, excess bandwidth, and priority, wherein each of the queues has one or more of the dequeue attributes defined.

摘要： Presently disclosed is an apparatus and method for returning control of bandwidth allocation and packet scheduling to the routing engine in a network communications device containing an ATM interface. Virtual circuit (VC) flow control is augmented by the addition of a second flow control feedback signal from each virtual path (VP). VP flow control is used to suspend scheduling of all VCs on a given VP when traffic has accumulated on enough VCs to keep the VP busy. A new packet segmenter is employed to segment traffic while preserving the first in, first out (FIFO) order in which packet traffic was received. Embodiments of the invention may be implemented using a two-level (per-VC and per-VP) scheduling hierarchy or may use as many levels of flow control feedback-derived scheduling as may be necessitated by multilevel scheduling hierarchies.
