摘要： A method and apparatus for data conversion using time manipulation is disclosed. Ultrafast analog-to-digital (A/D) conversion and digital-to-analog I/A) conversion are achieved by optoelectronic time-stretching or time-compression, respectively. A pulsed laser is chirped by frequency spreading the laser output in either discrete or continuous fashion. The chirped output is then modulated with the electrical signal, and then frequency spread again. The output of the modulated signal is detected with a photodetector to convert the optical signal to a time-manipulated copy of the electrical signal.

摘要： An endoscopic loop including an applying instrument comprises a pre-knotted loop of surgical suture material and a hollow shaft in the interior space of which the free thread portion runs. The free thread portion extends at least up to the proximal end of the shaft. In the interior space an actuating mechanism is mounted, the proximal end of which essentially extends up to the proximal end of the shaft. At the distal end of the actuating means a knife is attached which cuts the free thread portion upon actuation of the device.

摘要： An opthalmic biomicroscope for observing a narrow zone of a patient's eye has an optical axis traversing one of several sections of a flat semitransparent mirror serving to illuminate that zone with the projected image of a slit diaphragm in the ray path of a light source. The light source and the associated diaphragm and projection system are disposed in a housing which is swingable about a pivotal axis skew to the optical axis of the microscope so as to train a high-intensity beam upon the eye by way of a selected mirror section. These sections are relatively inclined in a plane perpendicular to the pivotal axis, including the optical axis of the microscope, and are tangent in that plane to an ellipse whose foci lie on the pivotal axis and on the projected slit image.

摘要： A surgical device which has an elongated body which is curved at one of its ends, and which has two through passages at each of its ends and two connecting lines connecting the through passages in such a way that each of the connecting lines connects one through passage at one end of the elongated body to a through passage at the other end of the elongated body. The elongated body also has both two selective control means mounted on it, each of which is capable of controlling the fluid circulation in the connecting lines, and two actuating members for actuating the selective control means. The surgical device also includes at least one first joining piece carrying a first tubular connector which can be brought into communication with such a body side. The first joining piece can be mounted at either end of the elongated body, so that the first tubular connector is connected, in common and in a sealed manner, to the two through passages of the end on which the first joining piece is mounted. The surgical device also includes at least one second joining piece carrying second and third tubular connectors which can be connected, respectively, to a source of irrigating liquid and to aspiration-means. The second joining piece can be mounted at either of the ends of the elongated body, so that the second and third tubular connectors are connected in a sealed manner to the two through passages of the end on which the second joining piece is mounted.
