摘要： A foreground erosion method is used to meet thin (but unbroken) text requirements using linear YCC segmentation. The method uses a fixed value subtracted from a gray selector signal, thereby thinning/eroding the foreground. In cases where the pixel would be converted from foreground to background, this is only done if a neighborhood test verifies that the thinning won't result in broken lines. The foreground erosion method attempts to match a couple of templates wherein if a match is found, then the adjustment is performed.

摘要： A method of generating a binary Sel plane for image compression is disclosed. The method first generates a 2 bit gray selector (GraySel). This 2 bit selector is then processed in a second stage to produce a binary Sel decision which minimizes the compression noise evident in the reconstructed image. The method used here to generate the 2 bit GraySel applies a set of prioritized rules over a small 3×3 window that is well suited for segmenting synthetic, PDL generated images that are typically free of scanner noise. The method not only marks the proper sense of the selector when it is known, but also include a 3rd state that indicates that the selector decision is weak or unknown. This weak decision can then be optimized in the second stage process based on strong edges information in the neighborhood.

摘要： A method and system accumulates an error from an error diffusion process used for rendering continuous images. A scan from an original document generates a plurality of original pixel values which are adjusted by an accumulated error value corresponding to the total effect of neighboring pixels. The adjusted pixel error value is determined between the adjusted pixel value and an output. The adjusted pixel error value is weighted by a predetermined weighting technique and diffused among a plurality of neighboring pixel locations to generate a plurality of intermediate pixel error values. Intermediate pixel errors are accumulated and stored in an error buffer before being combined with an original pixel value. Repetitive access to a memory location associated with the adjusted pixel value is obviated by accumulation of the intermediate pixel values in intermediate registers. A compressor compresses the diffused error values before storage in a buffer as accumulated error values.

摘要： The output beam of a read laser for an optical memory is diffracted to provide a plurality of read beams of substantially equal intensity for simultaneously scanning all of the data tracks of a selected data channel with a different one of the read beams, whereby each of the read beams is optically modulated in accordance with the data recorded on a respective one of the data tracks. The optically modulated read beams are applied to respective detectors, whereby the data recorded on the different data tracks is simultaneously converted into corresponding video electrical signals. Those signals are, in turn, output selectively or in parallel.
