    • The body (12) and display unit (14) have mutually engaging electrical contacts for conventional use of the meter with the display unit attached to the body. Those contacts may be used as a retainer for the display unit. The body (12) contains a radio transmitter (16), an aerial (18) and electronic circuitry for converting a resistance measurement into a radio frequency signal. The circuitry includes a resistance measuring system (20) and a data encoder (22) for converting the resistance measurement into radio frequency signals. The display unit (14) includes an aerial (24) for receiving the radio electronic circuitry for converting the signal back into the resistance measurement. That circuitry includes a radio frequency receiver (26) and a data decoder (28). The measurement is then shown on a liquid crystal display (30) through a glass window (32).

    • Patient support apparatus 10 comprises a pair of selectively inflatable and deflatable elongate side cushions 12 fitted on a bed 14. The cushions 12 are mounted on a cover 16 extending over the mattress of the bed 14 in the manner of a sheet, with each cushion 12 lying adjacent and alongside a respective side of the bed. The cushions and cover may be provided with a smooth outer surface whereby bed clothes may slide thereover. Each cushion 12 maybe divided into a plurality of discrete compartments along the length thereof which can be selectively inflated. The apparatus may further include two selectively inflatable elongate turning cushions 20 between the side cushions 12 for turning a patient; an inflatable foot lifting cushion; means to move a patient to a sitting position, e.g. a selectively inflatable pillow or an inflatable wedge shaped cushion beneath a patient's head and back; a knee lifting cushion which may be inflatable, and an inflatable heel supporting cushion. Control means which may be hand held and programmable may be provided to permit the selective inflation and deflation of the side and turning cushions.
