摘要： Embodiments describe synchronizing access routers with wireless terminal state information. According to an embodiment is a wireless terminal that transmits a message that includes an address for at least two access routers. State change information can optionally be included in the message. According to another embodiment is an access router that receives a state change notification from a wireless device or another access router. The state change notification is updated in the access router. An acknowledgment confirming the updated state change may be sent to the wireless terminal. Dynamic state synchronization is provided with minimal communication with wireless terminal.

摘要： A method of controlling routing of packets in a communications network including a plurality of access nodes to which a routing path, may be directed in said infrastructure for a given network address, said method comprising: routing packets along a first routing path for a network address, which routing path is directed to a first access node serving a mobile node using said first network address via a communications link; handing over the communications link of the mobile node, such that a second access node serves said mobile node; and altering said first routing path using a first type of routing update to create a second routing path for said first network address, directed to said second access node: routing packets to said second access node via said second routing path; handing over the communications link of the mobile node, such that a third access node serves said mobile node; and altering routing in said infrastructure using a second type of routing update, different to said first type of update, to create a third routing path for said network address, directed to said third access node, and routing packets to said third access node via said third routing path.

摘要： The present invention provides a method of, computer programs for and apparatus adapted to operate a communications network to generate data defining a forwarding tree for the transmission of messages in said network, said method comprising: a) storing data associating each of the nodes of said network with at least one of N levels of a hierarchy, where N is an integer greater than one; b) operating each of the nodes in each of the first to (N-1) th levels to periodically send a join message to one of the nodes in a superior level in said hierarchy; c) in response to the receipt of a join message at a node, storing tree-defining data indicating that the sender of said join message is a member of a group of descendant nodes for which said receiving node is an ancestor node; whereby said tree-defining data so stored defines said forwarding tree.
