    • PURPOSE:To detect the temperature of a conductor readily and continuously at a remote place by detecting the strain of a supporting member which is generated at a value proportional to the temperature rise by the thermal expansion due to the temperature rise of the conductor with a strain gauge and a strain meter. CONSTITUTION:An electric conductor 1 such as a bus bar is supported with a supporting member 11 such as an angle net and the like through an insulator 13. a strain gauge 12 which is connected to a strain meter not shown in the figure is attached to the vicinity of the conductor 1 of the supporting member 11. The strain gauge 12 can be attached to the insulator 13. Strain is generated in the supporting member 11 by the thermal expansion with the temperature rise in the conductor 1. The amount of the strain becomes the value which is proportional to the temperature rising of the conductor 1. Therefore, when the strain of the supporting member 11 is detected with the strain gauge 12 and the strain meter, the temperature of the conductor 1 can be readily detected continuously at the remote place.

    • A deflection detection device for monitoring deflection of a diaphragm having a radius r has a first plurality of optical fibers having fiber ends concentrically disposed about the center of the diaphragm at a radius r.sub.1 where r.sub.1 is less than r. A second plurality of optical fibers having fiber ends concentrically disposed about the center of the diaphragm forms a circle having a radius r.sub.2 where r is greater than r.sub.2 is greater than r.sub.1. A third plurality of optical fibers having fiber ends concentrically disposed about the center of the diaphragm forms a circle having a radius r.sub.3 where r is greater than r.sub.3 is greater than r.sub.2. The ends of the first and third plurality of optical fibers are light capturing and the ends of the second plurality of optical fibers are light emitting. Deflection of the diaphragm is detected when light from the second plurality of fibers is reflected off the diaphragm into the first and third plurality of fibers in proportion to the amount of deflection of the diaphragm according to a predetermined ratio.
