[Class 138(ii)] Relates to a combined domestic washing- machine and wringer 11 in which the wringer is pivotally mounted by brackets 3 on the rear of the washing-machine and is capable of being swung into a horizontal position in which it is housed beneath a table top 14. According to the invention a vertical, or substantially vertical, backboard 5 is supported in sockets 4 in the brackets 3 for preventing the escape of water from the rear of the machine, when the latter is in use, and providing a support for .the rear of the table top when the wringer is folded to horizontal position, the table top being then maintained in position by front legs 15 resting on the rim of the machine. Legs provided on the wringer are adapted to be received in sockets 9 in supports 7, which are pivoted on pins 8 on the brackets 3. In the operative position of the wringer, the lower end of each socket engages a vertical face on a lug 6, Fig. 3, on the bracket 3 and is maintained in this position by a screwed clamp 13 which passes through the bracket and engages a depression 12 in one face of the socket; when the wringer is swung down to a horizontal position, the socket 9 engages a horizontal edge of the adjacent lug 6. When the table top 14 is mounted above the wringer, a channel-shaped guide 17 on the rear edge of the table top engages the upper edge of the backboard 5. The washing-machine is square or rectangular in plan and is fitted with the usual agitator 1 passing through the lid 2 of the machine.
