摘要： A method of producing plastic-based casings including preformed metal fragments for ordnance articles, such as hand grenades, weapon-launched grenades or the like, by rotational molding in a shell-mold; a pulverulent thermoplastic polymer material, such as polyethylene, and steel fragments or particles are introduced into the cold shell mold, optionally in the form of a pre-compact; the closed mold is rotated slowly, i.e. at a speed where the polymer and metal constituents tend to tumble about the inner mold surface and are not held substantially thereon by centrifugal effects; while continuously rotating the shell mold about two or more axes of rotation, the mold is heated by an externally applied hot fluid such as hot gas. As the temperature of the wall of the mold increases, an adhering layer of viscous polymer is formed thereon while the metal fragments continue to tumble; only when most of the polymer material is in a viscous molten state and has formed a layer covering the inner surface of the mold, the metal particles will adhere to the viscous material layer and form a metal particle monolayer thereon; then, the mold is cooled while still in rotation until the polymer solidifies. Finally, the molded product is discharged from the shell and provides an integral casing substantially consisting of an outer wall of polymer material and a monolayer of metal fragments adhering thereto. Molecular cross-linking of the polymer may be effected by a cross-linking agent and activating the latter after formation of the monolayer.

摘要： The explosive charge is intended for a warhead, cluster mines or similar ammunition, which have preshaped splinters for attacking soft targets, and one or more pointed shells for more solid ones. The splinters (7,10,11,12) are arranged on the rear side of the case (8), and can be mounted directly against it or clear of it. They can also be mounted in a hollow charge chamber, so as to direct the detonation wave. Explosive, or incendiary material, such as thermite, can be contained between the splinters and the rear of the casing.

摘要： The fin-stabilized projectile has an ogival projectile body having a nose portion and a base portion joined to a tail tube having a finned tailed unit. 摘要： A process for producing a formed member, and a formed member which includes spherical fragments embedded in a metallic matrix is effected through cold pressure rolling. The spheres are arranged in the interspace between a basic support member, which may be a thin-walled inner casing, and an outer casing. Forging of the outer casing causes the material of the support member and the outer casing to be pressed into the spaces between the spheres, densifies the support member and the outer casing, and prestresses the outer casing and spheres, thus allowing the inner casing to be extremely thin-walled. The prestressing of the spheres and outer casing, together with the inner casing imparts a high degree of energy to the casing fragments and to the spheres, affords economies in manufacture and a substantial increase in fragmenting energy at detonation of the formed member.
