    • To deliver a liquid at high speed and with high accuracy. A device for delivering a fixed quantity of liquid, comprising a pump section for metering the delivered liquid to provide a desired amount consisting of a plunger chamber formed in a cylinder block, and a plunger reciprocating in the plunger chamber, a valve section for switching between liquid flow channels for suction and delivery, a reservoir section for reserving liquid adapted to communicate with the pump section depending upon the position of the valve section, and a delivery section having a delivery port for delivering liquid, the device being characterized in that the pump section and the valve section are disposed connected to each other and that the maximum advance position of the plunger is defined by a plane where the front end surface of the plunger contacts the valve section and pump section. The valve section is removably disposed in the pump section. The plunger chamber is made of a cylindrical chamber fitted in a hole formed in the cylinder block. The valve section is in the form of a switching valve provided with a valve block having a first flow channel communicating with a reservoir vessel and a second flow channel communicating with the delivery section.

    • A rotary blood pump is described. The rotary blood pump (10) comprising a housing defining a pumping chamber (3) with upper and lower interior surfaces and having a blood inlet (7) and a tangential blood outlet (13), and a rotatable impeller (22) within the pumping chamber (3) and adapted to increase blood pressure within the pumping chamber (3) to cause blood to move to the blood outlet (13). The impeller (22) has at least one raised surface area adjacent the upper interior surface of the pumping chamber (3). The raised surface area comprises a hollow cylindrical casing (53) having a plurality of sidewalls to define a cavity (54) beneath said one raised surface area. The cavity is bounded by at least one solid wall member having a plurality of side-by-side balancing bores (56) formed therein to cause said impeller to rotate smoothly.

    • A volumetric pump (1) comprising at least one first piston (20) inside a first hollow cylindrical part (23). This pump (1) has at least one inlet port (10) through which a liquid (15) can be sucked into at least one pump chamber (26) during an instroke of said piston (20), and at least one outlet port (11) through which the liquid (15) can be expelled during the outstroke of the piston (20). At least one second piston (21) is positioned opposite to the first piston (20) inside a second hollow cylindrical part (23') to create at least a second pump chamber (26') through which the liquid (15) can be sucked in through the inlet port (15) during an instroke of the second piston (21) and expelled through the outlet port (11) during the outstroke of said second piston (21). Both cylindrical parts (23, 23') are assembled end-to-end facing each other to form a housing (22). An element (24), preferably a disc, is mounted midway inside said housing (22). This element (24), which comprises the inlet and outlet ports (10, 11), is arranged to be animated by a preferably combined bidirectional linear and angular movement to cause relative to-and-fro sliding between the cylindrical housing (22) and the pistons (20, 21) along the axis of said pistons (20, 21) while closing the inlet and outlets ports (10, 11) synchronically to ensure a continuous flow delivery.
