    • PURPOSE:To economically perform a large-scale construction work by arranging a self-propelling conveyor with a regenerative braking device in a horizontal shaft and a vertical shaft provided between a mountain skirt section and a mountain top, and moving the conveyor by the tare weight of excavated sediment. CONSTITUTION:A horizontal shaft 1 is drilled from a mountain skirt section in a mountain zone to be excavated into the flat ground, and a vertical shaft 2 is provided successively with it and opened to the mountain top. A bucket elevator type self-propelling conveyor 10 having a regenerative braking device 12 is arranged between the mountain top and the mountain skirt section via the vertical shaft 2 and the horizontal shaft 1. The mountain is excavated in sequence from the mountain top, excavated sediment is dropped in the vertical shaft 2, the self-propelling conveyor 10 is moved by the tare weight of sediment, and sediment is moved to the outlet of the horizontal shaft 1 at the mountain skirt section. The self-propelling conveyor 10 is gradually lowered by the regenerative braking device 12, and the electric power generated by regenerative braking is utilized for various accessory facilities.

    • A surface mining system for mining successive, generally parallel cuts in a coal or similar mineral seam includes at least one endless belt conveyor disposed on a spoil pile directly adjacent the cut being excavated and a second conveyor extending from the first conveyor to a material storage site. Material is transferred to the first conveyor by an excavator working the longitudinal extent of the cut and transferring excavated material to a moveable crusher and conveyor apparatus which transfers the material to a second moveable crusher and conveyor apparatus. The second moveable crusher and conveyor apparatus discharges material onto the conveyor disposed on the spoil pile. The mineral seam may be mined by progressively advancing into the seam with successive parallel cuts and progressively moving the conveyor system onto newly formed portions of the spoil pile. A combination conveyor and crusher apparatus is arranged such that the conveyor and crusher unit are mounted on an undercarriage in counterbalancing relationship to each other.

    • A conveyor system for an open pit mine may include one or more conveyor lines. The conveyor lines are used to transport material from one location in the mine to another location. The material transported may be a waste material, such as overburden material, or coal. The conveyor lines may move from a first end of the pit to a distal second end. When the conveyor lines reach the second end, they may reverse direction and return towards the first end. During this reversal in direction of travel, equipment may be selectively swapped between the conveyor lines. The conveyor lines may include at least one mobile bridge conveyor. Each mobile bridge conveyor may support one or more conveyors that transport the material.
