    • A process for improving the uniformity of yarn finish application on the individual filaments of a rapidly advancing synthetic continuous monofilament, bonded multi-filament, multi-filament hosiery, textile, technical and industrial yarns includes imparting a pneumatic false twist to the advancing yarn having a wet finish thereon while the yarn is under a tension allowing the rapid opening and closing of the multi-filament yarn but preventing texturing or coherency from increasing by commingling of the yarn filaments in the false twister. A nozzle has a reduced friction and can either be used as a stand-alone air bearing or to apply finish within the nozzle. A plurality of finish delivery orifices open into the chamber in a low pressure zone inside the nozzle, and wherein the exact same or slightly greater pressure that is used for the compressed air supplied to the air delivery orifices is used to actuate the finish supplied to the plurality of the finish delivery orifices. The process and apparatus can also be used with monofilament textile yarn and bonded textile yarn.

    • Fibrillation of certain cellulosic fibres has been widely studied, and fibrillation can be utilised to improve fabric performance, for example strength, absorbency, surface area together with handle and opacity. However, it believed that keratinous fibres such as wool have not been treated in this way. The invention seeks to provide a fibrillated keratinous fibre fabric and a method of fibrillating natural fibres. A textile fabric of keratinous fibre is disclosed characterised by the presence of fibrils, micro-fibrils and proto-fibrils. The fibrils may be further characterised as having diameters in the range 3 mu m to 5 mu m and by having lengths in the range 25 mu m to 60 mu m. Preferably, the fabric is a woven, knitted, non-woven or composite fabric. A method of treating natural fibres is also disclosed which comprises:- a pre-treatment to remove surface lipid materials or scales, e.g. using an oxidising agent; a treatment to remove or partially remove intercellular cement, e.g. using an enzyme; and the application of mechanical agitation under aqueous conditions, e.g. hydroentanglement, to complete fibrillation.

    • PURPOSE: A process of preparing a suede-like fabric by coating an aqueous chemical comprising acryl resin, an emulsifier and water on one side thereof and then abrasing another side thereof is provided. Whereby, the fabric is excellent in wash and wear properties and good in touch feeling. CONSTITUTION: A fabric(100) is subjected to passing through a mesh roller(102) to coat an aqueous chemical comprising acryl resin, an emulsifier and water on one side thereof in an amount of 70 to 200g/m¬2 and drying at 80 to 200deg.C. Thereafter the fabric is subjected to passing through a heat roller at 130 to 150deg.C and then abrasion for 2 to 6 hr to form a fluff on another side thereof.
