Actuating rod 5 linked to the blade causes it to move in a downward direction to engage the surface on which the anchor rests. Rod 5 may be actuated by a spring or an explosive charge in tube 6. The embodiment shown has two blades 11 slidably mounted on the block for downward movement also to engage the surface on which the anchor rests.

The anchor is shown as part of the mooring device described and claimed in Specification 1,167,511.

[Also in Division B7] The explosive charge 70 in an embedment anchor 10 (see Division B7) is ignited by a resistance element 72 which is controlled by two switches, a hydrostatic pressure switch 110 and a contact pressure switch 94. When the anchor is first lowered, both switches are open. When a predetermined depth has been reached contact 110b closes on terminals 110d and 110e, whereby a circuit is established through element 72, contact 110a, terminal 110d, contact 110b, terminal 110e, contact 110f and wire 110g, the latter leading to one terminal of switch 94. Until the anchor strikes the sea bed, switch 94 remains open relative to batteries 86 such that line 110g is earthed through contacts 94a, 94b and 94c. When the anchor strikes bottom contact 94b closes on terminals 94d, 94e whereby current flows from the batteries through contacts 94f, 94e, 94b, 94d and 94a to wire 110g, whereby current is conducted to resistance element 72 which ignites the explosive and drives the anchor nose cone 48 into the sea bed.

摘要： An anchoring system comprising a pointed anchor body having either a wire apped therearound in one embodiment thereof or a coiled wire disposed within a hollow portion of the anchor body in a second embodiment thereof. One end of the wire is fixed to the pointed end of the anchor body and the other end projects through a pusher plate at the other end of the anchor body, behind which is an explosive or propellant charge for actuating the anchor. When the charge is ignited the anchor body is driven out of the charge housing, which is configured to retain the pusher plate, causing the wire to unwind as the anchor body embeds itself.

摘要： An explosively propelled underwater embedment anchor assembly having a barrel with a smooth bore therethrough except for an internal flange near the muzzle extremity; a breech at the other end of the barrel; an explosive propellant cartridge within the barrel and adjacent the breech; a piston also within the barrel and adjacent the breech but on the muzzle side thereof, the piston having an outside diameter approximately equal to the diameter of the smooth bore; and a harpoon adjacent the piston and extending out of the barrel, the harpoon having a maximum outside diameter approximately equal to the inside diameter of the flange. A spring-biased firing pin is restrained by a plurality of ball lock detents held in place by a resiliently biased tube.
