摘要： A polyamide skin layer is formed on a porous support by reacting an aromatic compound having at least two reactive amino groups with a polyfunctional acid halide compound having at least two reactive acid halide groups. Then, the polyamide skin layer is treated with a free chlorine aqueous solution containing bromine compound. The resultant composite reverse osmosis membrane has a high rejection for substances that are not ionized at the pH range where the membrane is normally used.

A method for producing the mordenite (MOR) zeolite membrane includes the steps of: immersing a porous substrate in a gel of raw materials which contains zeolite constitution elements in molar ratios of 40-400 of SiO2/Al2O3, 10-120 of H2O/Na2O, and 10-40 of H2O/SiO2; and subjecting the gel in the presence of the porous substrate to hydrothermal synthesis at 150° C. or more to crystallize the MOR zeolite constitution elements and form a MOR zeolite membrane on the porous substrate.

摘要： A charge mosaic membrane having excellent selective permeability comprises a cationic polymer component, an anionic polymer component and a matrix component. Both of the cationic polymer component and the anionic polymer component are crosslinked particulate polymers. The matrix component is at least one polymer selected from a polysulfone resin, a polyarylate resin, a polyamide resin, a polyimide resin, a polyamideimide resin, a polyurethane resin, a fluorinated resin or a silicone resin. The charge mosaic membrane can be easily produced by conducting formation of the membrane by using a composition in which the cationic polymer component and the anionic polymer component are both dispersed in a solution of the matrix component in an organic solvent.

摘要： A smoke evacuating system for use during surgical procedures, particularly minimally invasive procedures involving the use of a laser or cautery at a surgical site having an associated higher than ambient pressure, wherein the system includes a filter with a site side and an outlet side and a fluid conduit extending between the surgical site and the filter. The filter includes a filter media and a housing substantially surrounding the filter media with a space between the filter media and the housing to collect condensed vapor. The filter exhibits low resistance or a low pressure drop and resists fluid flow, whereby the higher than ambient pressure is not substantially diminished and generates a fluid flow in the fluid flow path tending to carry smoke to and through the filter.

摘要： A pore plugging material, for pH dependent membrane diffusion, in which cyclic olefins having phosphazene-functional moieties provide predictable erosion properties when used to plug pores in separation barriers and other porous membranes. Specific properties of the polymers are dependent on several factors, including molecular weight and identity of side groups attached to the phosphazene moiety. However, as a class, phosphazene-functional cyclic olefins provide both predictable erodibility and uniformly benign hydrolysis products and are, therefore, uniquely suitable as pore plugging polymers for separation barriers and membranes of all kinds. The invention, therefore, embraces the provision of a pH-sensitive erodible pore plugging material for pores in separation barriers and membranes of all kinds.

The filter includes a fabric body, an in-situ molded outlet fitting on the top side of the fabric body and runners or contact points on the underside of the body. The fabric body may be a single folded fabric swatch or a plurality of swatches sealed about the open edges. The outlet fitting cooperatively engages the inlet of a fuel pump. A retaining member formed on the periphery of the body engages the housing of the fuel pump and positions the filter body adjacent the housing.

Two terminal sidewall sections meet to form a seam such that the sidewall sections circumscribe the filter media peripheral sidewalls. The continuous strip frame is formed by extruding a continuous strip frame blank comprising at least a substantially flat sidewall and at least two projecting filter retaining tabs forming a continuous channel on a first face of the continuous strip frame blank. The filter retaining tabs are then notched to form corner notches which corner notches extend at least to the substantially flat sidewalls creating sidewall section between the corner notches and optionally scoring first and/or second faces of the sidewall portions to form living hinges. The continuous strip frame blank is further cut into discrete strip frame blanks.
