    • A device includes a filling valve, a sleeve, an absorbing member, and a gas control unit. The filling valve can be engaged for filling liquid gas. The sleeve includes a fluid passing section that enables liquid gas outside to flow therein. The absorbing member can absorb liquid gas and is disposed in the sleeve. The gas control unit includes a main body, a gas inlet and flow rate adjusting mechanism, and a gas outlet mechanism. The gas inlet and flow rate adjusting mechanism includes an adjustably movable valve and a first air seal. The first air seal is mounted between the adjustably movable valve and the main body to prevent liquid gas from passing therebetween. The adjustably movable valve is in fluid communication with the gas outlet mechanism such that vaporized gas emitted from the absorbing member is discharged from the device from the gas outlet mechanism.

    • A service tee comprises a tubular T-piece 1 having a through-portion 2 with a flexible lower end 6 for connection to a gas or water main 70 by way of a hole in the wall of the main and a side branch portion 3 for connection to a service pipe. The end 6 of the through-portion 2 is adapted for initial insertion into the hole in the wall of the main 70 and then for subsequent radial outward expansion so that its surface sealingly engages with the edge of the hole. An expander 4 is provided for location within the end 6 of the through-portion 2 and is adapted in a first position to permit initial insertion of the end of the through-portion into the hole and on movement to a second position to cause expansion of the end 6 into engagement with the edge of the hole. A plug 5 is also provided, the plug 5 being engageable with the expander 4 and adapted to move the expander 4 from its first to its second position, the arrangement being that after expansion the plug 5 can be moved from a first position where the end 6 of the through-portion 2 is closed off from the side branch portion 3 to a second position where the side branch portion 3 and the end 6 of the through-portion 2 can communicate.

    • A valve arrangement for a pressurizable vessel includes a valve member mountable on a vessel for movement relative thereto. The valve member is formed with a passage which extends over part of the length of the valve member. A valve-actuating assembly is removably mountable on the vessel. The assembly includes a fitting surrounding the valve member with clearance at the exterior of the vessel, a housing movably mounted within the fitting, and force-transmitting elements partially received within the housing and operative for displacing the valve member between an open position in which the passage communicates the vessel interior with the clearance so as to permit fluid flow between the interior and exterior of the vessel, and a closed position in which such fluid flow is prevented.

    • A method and apparatus are provided for sealing the opening in the sidewall of a fluid carrying main during replacement of a service tee or the like comprising a gate valve, means on end of said gate valve for engaging the end of a service tee remote from the main, a plug wrench having an elongate stem adapted to pass through said gate valve in the open position, closure means on the other end of said gate valve having a passage adapted to sealingly and slidably pass said stem through the gate valve to remove a screw plug in the end of the service tee remote from the main and to receive the screw plug and wrench above the gate valve while the gate valve is closed, a stopper rod interchangeable with the elongate stem of the plug wrench in the passage in the closure means, said stopper rod having an axial passage, a resilient elongate member abutting one end of said stopper rod, an intermediate hollow shaft threaded in the hollow passage of the stopper rod and extending through the resilient member to expand the plug radially on relative rotation with respect to the stopper rod, a threaded jack shaft extending through and threadingly engaging the hollow intermediate shaft and through the resilient member whereby on relative rotation of the jack member and the stopper rod, the expanded resilient member is raised into engagement with the wall of the main around the opening therein to seal the same.
