    • The invention relates to a plug-in connector for printed circuits, comprising a plurality of contact elements, whereby said contact elements have two connecting faces each. The one connecting face is configured as an insulation displacement contact for connecting cores and the other connecting face is configured as a tuning fork contact for contacting contact surfaces on a printed circuit. The insulation displacement contacts of the contact elements can be inserted into a plastic housing. At least one lower edge of the insulation displacement contacts is supported on the plastic housing so that the contact elements are captivated in the plastic housing when connecting forces act upon the insulation displacement contacts. The plastic housing comprises at least one chamber-type area. The tuning fork contacts are completely received by the plastic housing in the longitudinal direction. The contact element is configured as a two-part element, a first part of the contact element comprising the insulation displacement contact and the second part comprising the tuning fork contact. One contact arm each is positioned on both parts of the contact element and the two contact arms interact to give a disconnector.

    • A tab terminal comprises a box-shaped body section having short circuit cantilever beam spring members projecting outwardly from side walls thereof. The terminals are for mounting in a connector assembly matable to a complementary connector assembly for applications such as automotive airbags where a short circuiting function is required between adjacent terminals of a connector assembly. Spring members of adjacent terminals thus abut and electrically contact each other when mounted in a connector assembly that is disconnected. The complementary connector assembly has a wall portion that is insertable between the contacting spring members for separation thereof when the assemblies are mated. Due to the distribution of flexible movement between spring members of both adjacent contacts, and due to the integration of the spring members within the terminals, a more compact connector assembly can be provided, and furthermore stresses are reduced within the short circuiting spring members in comparison to the prior art.

    • Apparatus is disclosed for use when a first connector is to be mated to a second connector that includes shorting contacts and is being supplied with a plurality of active signals such that the breaking of the electrical connection between the shorting contacts themselves is substantially delayed until the time of making of the electrical connection between the shorting contacts and at least one corresponding conductive terminal of the first connector. Such a delay permits electrical separation of the shorting contacts only at the instant when at least one of the shorting contacts will begin to contact its corresponding conductive terminal without substantially impairing any other characteristics of the connector. This delay is established by employing a first connector which reduces or eliminates altogether any insulating material that passes between the shorting contacts as the first connector is inserted into the second connector prior to the shorting contacts establishing electrical conductivity with at least one of their corresponding conductors.

    • A connector for controlling the operation of a vehicle engine is disclosed, the connector including a male connector element having first and second contacts fixedly retained therein and a female connector element having first and second resilient terminals fixedly retained therein. The first and second terminals of the female element are each provided with an arcuate end portion disposed so that the arcuate end portions of the terminals normally contact one another. When the male element is inserted into the female element, the arcuate end portions of the terminals in the female element are separated from one another and make contact with the first and second contacts of the male element. This contact permits the vehicle engine to be controlled by the switch. On the other hand, if the connector elements are uncoupled, the arcuate end portions of the female connector element are in contact with one another so as to complete and close a circuit defined by wires coupled to the terminals of the female element. Completion of this circuit prevents operation of the vehicle's engine. Accordingly, the vehicle operator must properly connect the male and female elements in order to use the vehicle and, as such, controlled operation of vehicle's engine is facilitated.

    • A composite intelligent terminal wiring device and a plug device.
