摘要： PURPOSE: A card reader and a method for distinguishing whether an IC chip exists or not as non-contact way are provided to rapidly and accurately distinguish whether an inserted card to a card reader is a magnetic card or an IC card. CONSTITUTION: A metal sensor detects electrostatic capacity or self-capacity change when metal of an inserted card(10) is near to the constant distance. A temperature sensor(130) measures the temperature change of nearby the metal detecting sensor. An oscillation circuit unit(140) transmits the designated value of the oscillation frequency. By distinguishing whether the oscillation frequency change is by the temperature change or the metal, a micro computer unit(160) distinguishes whether the metal exist or not as in non contact way.

摘要： A capacitive data storing method is disclosed. A fuse circuit section is provided in advance by a printing technique. Fixed information including a card number and printed on the fuse circuit section different with each of goods such as a card, and consequently identification of goods is reliable. Removing the scratch-off material, or in some cases only a portion of the scratch-off material, can permit machine validation of the lottery tickets. For bar codes having a specified level of redundancy, it is desirable to cover at least enough of the bar code so as to prevent the machine reading of ticket validation data encoded in the bar code. Also, a lottery ticket can include a bar code printed on the ticket having both inventory and validation data along with a bar code printed on the front of the ticket including the validation data. All or part of the bar code printed on the front of the ticket can be covered by a scratch-off material.

摘要： The electronic verification machine (242) electronically couples with the circuit and applies an excitation signal such as an AC signal having a predetermined frequency through a read head (230) to the document (100) whereby the document includes a printed conductive material thereon. A sensor array (226A-H) in combination with detection circuit in the electronic verification machine (242) then generates a detection signal in response to the excitation signal which can both represent the location and the characteristics of the electrically printed material on the document. By storing the location of the conductive material on the document in a memory (224), the shape (238) of the conductive material can be determined. The electronic verification machine can also be used to stigmatize the document by applying a signal to the electronic circuits having sufficient strength to alter the electronic circuit.
