    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a point of impact on a real moving target.SOLUTION: The method for detecting a point of impact on a real moving target comprises: a step 54 of recording a first equation defining a finished surface capable of covering at least one portion of the target; a step 52 of recording a second equation defining the trajectory of a projectile or of a beam fired by a light weapon or a cylinder centered on the trajectory; a step 62 of measuring the coordinates of the point of the target with the aid of an electronic sensor; a step 64 of searching a point of intersection between the surface and the trajectory of the projectile or of the beam, or between the surfaces, by using the second recorded equation and the first recorded equation; and a step 68 of indicating the existence of a point of impact if at least one point of intersection is detected and, in the contrary case, a step 66 of indicating the absence of a point of impact.

    • An impact marking ballistic target blank includes a substrate having a photoreflective colored ink applied thereto. The photoreflective colored ink is covered by a thin transparent film. An opaque monochromatic base print coat is coated onto the outer film surface to obscure the photoreflective colored ink. The blank is manufactured and sold to an end user who prints various custom target images in one or more colors or color combinations contrasting with the photoreflective colored ink on the forward surface of the target blank base print coat, either by hand or by means of a computer and related laser, ink jet or dot matrix printer, or by other suitable printing technology medium. The substrate of the impact making blank target blank may include pressure sensitive label stock, with labels that are removably attached to a backing sheet to facilitate removal of labels, after an image has been printed onto them. After the printed label is detached from the backing paper, it is ready to be applied to a target mounting assembly and used as a target.

    • An exemplary embodiment, the present invention sets forth a method for correlating at least one weapon firing event to at least one scoring event. The method comprising: receiving information relating to a first scoring event; receiving information relating to a first weapon firing event; calculating an angle between a reference line, extending from location of the first weapon event to the location of the first scoring event, and the reference direction at the first computing device; comparing the time of the first scoring event to the time of the weapon firing event at the first computing device; comparing the angle of incidence for the projectile to the calculated angle at the first computing device; and identifying whether the weapon firing event and the scoring event are an unambiguous, one-to-one pairings at the first computing device.

    • In a method for capturing three-dimensional data of an area of space, a plurality of measuring beams (Ls) are sent out to a plurality of measuring points. A first distance to a first measuring point (34a) and a second distance to a second measuring point (34b) are determined. An orientation (74) of the hidden channel (66) is determined as a function of the first and the second distances.

    • An automatic target holder is provided for positioning targets for projectiles at a location remote from a shooter. The target holder includes a housing having a relatively low silhouette and a target support removably mounted upon the housing for positioning a target in a substantially planar firing position normal to a path of a projectile fired by the shooter. A target drive mechanism is located within the housing and is remotely operable by the shooter to advance a target roll to move a new target into the firing position. The target support structure and the housing is oriented outboard of the target in the firing position providing an unobstructed path for the projectile as it passes through the target. The preferred embodiment is provided with a target illumination panel positioned behind the target and shiftable between an inactive position out of the projectile path and an active position behind the target in order to increase the visibility of the projectile holes formed in the target.
