    • Attachment of a coupling to an end of a polyethylene pipe comprising a tubular insert (11, 30) to be introduced into the pipe end (10), and a coupling part (16, 39) to be advanced rotationally over the pipe end. The coupling part (16, 38) has an internal helical track which, when driven onto the pipe end, and by virtue of guide means (14, 35) forms a corresponding helical track or groove in the outer wall surface of the pipe end so that the coupling part and the pipe end become threadedly interengaged. The outer wall of the pipe end within the coupling part (16, 38) is thus captively retained by the helical track of the coupling part thus preventing creep of the polyethylene material form the assembly and maintaining the integrity of the pipe end coupling.

    • A tubular coupling comprising a first component (1) having a tubular male spigot (2) with a headed formation (3) on the outside thereof and extending towards one of its ends and a second component (5) has a socket for receiving the headed formation on the tubular male spigot in releasable manner. The second component has a flow passage (6) communicating with the socket generally collinearly with the tubular male spigot in the installed position. The guide surfaces cooperate such that rotation of the first and second components to bring their axes into substantial alignment causes a seat and seal arrangement to become operative and the headed formation to be held captive relative to the socket. An adapter is provided for integrating the coupling with industry standard fittings.

    • A connector is provided for a tube (8), typically a garden hose, wherein the connector forms part of a component that includes a connector spigot (4) having a flow passage (3) forming the interior of the connector spigot and at least one circumferential ridge (5) on an outer surface of the connector spigot. A union nut (6) is captive by an external flange (12) on the connector spigot. When the union nut is screwed onto an outer surface of a tube (8) that covers the circumferential ridge (5), it clamps the tube into sealing engagement with the ridge with the thread of the union nut engaging the outer surface of the tube.
