    • A support device is provided for the preferred application of buckling opposing support of an I-joist having an erroneously cut hole in its web portion. The support device may have an approximate U-shape with two substantially parallel bridging structures combined by a structure that combines the bridging structures and provides an alignment reference with the chords. In the case where an erroneously cut hole is identified, the support device may be laterally attached to the I-joist such that both bridging structures flank the erroneously cut hole. Once the bridging structures are attached to the web, the bridging structures define with the remainder of the web a buckling opposing interface. The support structure is preferably monolithically fabricated from sheet metal and scaled in conjunction with dimensional standards of commercially available I-joists.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of reinforcing an opening of a steel frame girder by which a degree of freedom in the design and construction is improved, and a better reinforcing effect is obtained while being safe and simple in terms of structural resistance.
      SOLUTION: A center tube 3 is inserted into an opening 1B of a girder web 1A while keeping the steel frame girder 1 erected. Threaded grooves 2A formed in an edge part of the opening are threadably fitted to threaded grooves 3A of the center tube 3, and a pair of reinforcing steel plates 2, 2 are attached to the center tube 3 in a manner of sandwiching the girder web 1A. Then, an auxiliary force applicator like a jig is inserted into and axial force introduction holes 5, 5 of the reinforcing steel plates 2, 2. In a state where one reinforcing steel plate 2 is fixed, a larger force is introduced by applying a load in a rotational axial force direction to rotate the other reinforcing steel plate 2 so that the girder web 1A and the pair of reinforcing plates 2, 2 may be friction-welded to each other. The auxiliary force applicator is pulled out of the axial force introduction hole 5, the hole 5 is plug welded, and the reinforcing plates 2, 2 and the girder web 1A are fixed further.

    • A post-installed sleeve device is provided for compensating loss of shear capacity of a concrete slab due to a hole drilled in the concrete slab. The sleeve device includes a hollow member of, for example, a cylindrical shape, and a lower sandwich member and an upper sandwich member shaped, for example, as ring members. The hollow member is inserted into the drilled hole such that an upper section of the hollow member extends above a top surface of the concrete slab. The lower sandwich member includes an inner edge rigidly attached to a bottom edge of the hollow member. The upper sandwich member includes an inner edge engageably connected to the upper section of the hollow member. The upper sandwich member and the lower sandwich member sandwich the concrete slab surrounding the drilled hole therebetween for compensating the lost shear capacity of the concrete slab due to the drilled hole.
