    • A saddle accessory apparatus is comprised of at least one panel of fabric material having a saddle seat covering portion shaped and sized to cover a saddle seat when mounted thereupon, and first and second flap portions, each extending from opposing sides of the seat covering portion and sized and shaped to cover the stirrup leathers of an English-style saddle, and all or substantially all of the fenders of a Western-style saddle. The apparatus protects the rider's bare legs when riding in shorts. Another embodiment of the apparatus includes riding implement retention means for retention of crops, bats, rods and the like and preventing them from falling to the ground if accidentally dropped.

    • A horse protection equipment ventilation structure, the design of which specifically provides for aeration and ventilation at the horse-equipment contact area during the usage of saddles, heel protectors (boots), headgear, and other horse protection applications to eliminate perspiratory suppression and discomfort problems due to over tightening. The structural design features a ventilation pad that is assembled to a predetermined position on the interior surface of various horse protection equipment of assorted shape. The ventilation pad is fabricated of a tactile-feel, exceptional quality resilient material, which in addition to a plurality of arrayed vent holes, has various protruding patterns of predetermined shape formed on its interior surface. Furthermore, assorted reticulations and indentations are disposed on the protruding patterns. When protection equipment integrating the invention herein is fastened onto the body of a horse, the material characteristics of the ventilation pad enable the movement of the horse to generate opening, closure, contact, and separation that increases airflow which optimizes ventilation. As such, the present invention improves the prior art shortcomings of perspiratory suppression and discomfort problems resulting from the over tightening of horse protection equipment onto horses.

    • A suspended cantle support which forces the rider's hips forward and down in the saddle by engaging the lower lumbar region of the rider's back. The suspended cantle support here includes a cushion having a relatively soft interior such as one or more layers of closed-cell foam covered by a durable cover. The cover includes a pair of strap lugs formed at the lower bottom corners of the cushion for attachment of straps to attach the cushion to a saddle. Four straps are used to attach the cushion to a saddle. Two straps are attached to each side of the cushion. The cushion is attached to the saddle by looping a first strap through the back cinch D-ring on the saddle and a second strap through an upper D-ring. Both straps are secured in their respective buckles. The other pair of straps on the other side of the cushion are secured in the same manner on the other side of the saddle. The rider mounts and dismounts in the normal manner.

    • A composite pad for a saddle panel includes a first panel having a first firmness property and a second panel having a second firmness property that is different from the first panel firmness property. The first and second panels are configured whereby the first panel substantially nests in a cavity defined in the second panel. The second panel firmness is typically less than the first panel firmness, whereby in use the assembled composite pad the softer second panel will contact the back of an animal wearing the saddle.
