    • PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for preventing telescope in the thin slab casting process are provided to prevent telescope from generating on the coil by vertically operating hydraulic cylinder according to load applied to load cells installed at front and rear sides, thereby controlling telescope generated during coiling of hot coil. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises first to fourth load cells(31-34) supportingly attached to an end part of left and right sides of first and second cradle rolls(21,22); first and second hydraulic cylinders(41,42) respectively connected to the two load cells attached to an end part of one side of the first and second cradle rolls to vertically move the connected load cells as supporting the first and second cradle rolls; first and second supports(51,52) for respectively supporting the two load cells attached to an end part of the other side of the first and second cradle rolls; and a controller for detecting load supplied to the first and fourth load cells, dividing the detected load into left and right side loads of the first and second cradle rolls, obtaining a comparison difference between the left side load and the right side load, and operating up and down the hydraulic cylinders according to the obtained comparison difference.
