    • A method for ion exchange removal of lead ion from solution utilizes a material which is insoluble in the solution and contains ion-exchangeable strontium or calcium or both. Ion exchange removal of even very low concentrations of lead has been found to be selective in the presence of gold and gold-alloying metals such as cobalt, nickel, iron, antimony and indium. The use of strontium or calcium exchange materials is found to be effective to remove lead ion from a liquid in the presence of gold and, e.g., cobalt ion, without significant removal of gold or cobalt. Apparatus in accordance with the invention includes a liquid-permeable contact material comprising an exchange material which may be distended upon a liquid-permeable support for passage therethrough of liquid to be treated. A gold-plating solution in accordance with the invention comprises a source of gold and contains calcium and/or strontium ion and not more than about 20 ppm lead.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal ion elimination filter, in which an ion exchange resin is heated without using a heater to increase the reaction rate of ion exchange, and metal ions are eliminated by directly passing a fuel in the ion exchange resin.SOLUTION: This metal ion elimination filter 14 for eliminating metal ions contained in fuel 2 is configured in such a manner that: a filter body 16 which is filled with an ion exchange resin 15 that adsorbs metal ions by means of ion exchange, is disposed partway along a fuel supply pathway (feed piping 9) that reaches an injector 5 from a fuel tank 1; and a fuel return pathway (return piping 13) that returns the fuel 2 in excess at the injector 5 to the fuel tank 1 is routed through the filter body 16, and thereby the ion exchange resin 15 can be heated by the waste heat of the returning fuel 2.
