A subcomponent node is determined in response to the sensor determination and a K node count of the subcomponent node is updated.

    • A method and system for managing the transfer of data from one tape to another. The system uses an operating system to control a plurality of tape drives and a tape manager. The system is configured to enable a user to create a stacked tape, unstack a previously stacked tape, and/or consolidate a previously stacked tape. When a stack is created, data is copied from one or more input tapes to an output tape in any desired format using American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard labeling conventions. When a user requests that data be unstacked, virtual tape volume (VTVs) on one or more input tapes are located and copied to respective opened output tapes. When data is consolidated, VTVs on one or more input tapes are copied to a single output tape. When data consolidation or stack creation is complete, a directory is written to the output tape.

    • One embodiment of the invention is a method for generating a database model from a set of business rules. For a business rule given as input, an empty list of fact types is created. A determination of whether the business rule is a definitional rule defining that one or more propositions become true upon occurrence of an event is made. If the business rule is a definitional rule, the fact type of each of the propositions is added to the list of fact types. Otherwise, a determination of whether the business rule is an authorization rule for provision of information that comprises one or more authorized provisions of information corresponding to one or more fact types is made. If the business rule is an authorization rule for provision of information, the corresponding fact types are added to the list of fact types. For each fact type in the list of fact types, the fact type having at least one role, the role having a type, if the type of the role is not a lexical type, the type is added to a list of types. The types in the list of types are processed and the fact types in the list of fact types are processed.

    • A platform independent model for exchanging information among numerous entities in a justice system with diverse system components is implemented in a hub and spoke arrangement. Each spoke includes a software agent that communicates with a system component of an entity of the justice system, translates from a common communication format to a communication format of the system component, and manages the timing of the flow of information to/from the system component. The hub includes an information broker that communicates with each agent in the common communication format, determines what information is needed by which entity, and routes the needed information to/from respective agents for the entities that need the information. The platform independent model includes a plurality of traceable and linked UML models that define the information broker from a business use case model through a platform independent solution model for implementation on a given solution platform. Since these UML models are readily modifiable and traceable for changes to the justice system, they facilitate implementation of the system in a cost-effective manner from one customer to the next without requiring system redesign.
