摘要： The present invention relates to the conversion of tall oil soap to produce crude tall oil. An aqueous tall oil soap solution generated in a kraft wood-pulping process is placed in contact with carbon dioxide, under pressure, to form crude tall oil and sodium bicarbonate brine. The crude tall oil and sodium bicarbonate brine are then allowed to separate, under pressure, into a crude tall oil layer and a sodium bicarbonate brine layer. The crude tall oil layer is than separated from the sodium bicarbonate brine layer, again under pressure. The separated crude tall oil may then be further refined to yield fatty acids, resin acids, and other constituents, which are useful in numerous industrial applications, such as in soaps, lubricants, inks, adhesives, and coatings.

摘要： Polyhydric alcohol rosin esters which had been modified with an aromatic dibasic acid such that the softening point of the acid-modified polyhydric alcohol rosin ester is higher than that of a comparable unmodified polyhydric alcohol rosin ester are used as tackifiers in hot melt adhesive compositions. The hot melt adhesives compositions which utilize the acid-modified rosin ester tackifiers contain at least one of an ethylenic copolymer and a styrenic block copolymer, at least one of a wax and an oil, and the acid-modified polyhydric alcohol rosin ester tackifier. The hot melt adhesive compositions may be used as, for example, hot melt carton and package sealing adhesives, sealants, bookbinding adhesives, assembly adhesives, and are useful for the assembly of disposable articles using multiline construction techniques wherein at least one polyethylene or polypropylene substrate is bonded to at least one tissue, non-woven, polyethylene or polypropylene substrate.

摘要： Solid compositions containing diamidediurethanes are useful as components of hot-melt-inks. Diamidediurethanes may be prepared by reaction of a hydroxycarboxylic acid and/or lactone with either (1) monoamine and diisocyanate or (2) diamine and monoisocyanate. Alternatively, the diamidediurethane may be prepared by reacting a non-hydric carboxylic acid and/or anhydride with an hydroxyamine and a diisocyanate. The reactant identity and stoichiometry, as well as the reaction conditions, may be tailored to optimize the formation of diamidediurethane in preference to high molecular weight oligomers. The hot-melt inks may be used in ink jet, flexographic, gravure and intaglio printing.

摘要： Polyamide/epoxy thermoplastic-thermoset curable adhesive resin systems which are aqueous dispersions are disclosed. The epoxy resin has an average of about 2 to about 8 unreacted epoxy groups. The polyamide component comprises both an acid terminated polyamide resin and an amine terminated polyamide resin. An additional base to neutralize some of the free acid groups on the polyamide components is present. Optionally the systems contain a water soluble dipolar chemical moiety to provide stability and/or a surfactant. The adhesive resin systems exhibit stability and are capable of forming an adhesive bond at elevated temperatures which then maintains integrity under high temperature, pressure and moisture conditions of autoclave sterilization. They are useful in producing packaging containers for enclosing and isolating an object to be sterilized.
