    • A bolt seal for securing hasps on trailer truck doors and/or rail car doors which utilizes a round or oval head bolt which extends through the hasps and upon which a nut is threaded. The nut is threaded onto the bolt until it is tight and then a hollow tube is used to bend the bolt sharply to about 90 DEG just under the nut. Identification number areas are formed at the tail of the bolt and on a flat portion of the bolt adjacent the head. If a thief tries to break the seal by bending the bolt back to its original straight condition, the metallurgy of the bolt is selected so that the bolt breaks off. This indicates that the seal has been tampered with and furthermore, the thief finds that if he tries to turn the nut the round head of the bolt will rotate and since the threads are upset by the bending he will be unable to remove the nut. A modification of the invention utilizes a spin nut which is cylindrical in shape.

    • A security lock (20) includes a cable having two ends (26,28), one of which (26) is fixedly attached to a body (22). The other end of the cable (28) is free and can be inserted through the hasp of a lock. Thereafter, the free end of the cable is inserted into a channel (30) in the body. A locking mechanism in the body allows the cable to be freely inserted into the channel, but prevents the cable from being retracted out of the channel. The locking mechanism comprises a pair of disks which grip the cable when it is moved in one direction and roll out of the way of the cable when it is moved in an opposite direction.

    • A self-locking wire seal includes a body in which one end of a wire is fixedly secured. The free end of the wire can be inserted through the hasp of a lock. The free end of the wire is then inserted through a channel in the body of the seal. The wire contacts a locking mechanism which automatically prevents the retraction of the wire out of the channel defined in the body. The locking mechanism may comprise a spring which engages notches defined on the wire. The notches may be defined by using a concentrically laid spiral wound wire. The spring flexes out of the way of these notches when inserted, but grips the wire when attempts are made to retract the wire from the body of the seal.
