    • An ink jet recording method uses a plurality of recording heads, each of which jets droplets of ink of water-soluble dye of different color to record an image on a recording medium. The recording method includes the steps of: jetting a first ink from one of the plurality of recording heads to print on the recording medium, the first ink having an absorption coefficient (Ka) of 0.5 ml/m.sup.2 .multidot.ms.sup.1/2 or less and a wetting time (Tw) of 50 to 200 msec; and jetting a second ink from one of the plurality of recording heads to print on the recording medium, the second ink having an absorption coefficient (Ka) of 1.0 ml/m.sup.2 .multidot.ms.sup.1/2 or larger and a wetting time (Tw) of 20 msec or less.

    • A hydraulic pressure control valve comprises a valve body having a slide bore of a circular cross-section and an inlet port and an outlet port opened into an inner surface of the slide bore at axially spaced apart points, and a valve spool slidably received in the valve body for axially sliding movement and defining, by cooperation with the valve body, a variable orifice for controlling the degree of communication between the inlet and outlet ports. In the hydraulic pressure control valve, a smaller diameter portion defining an annular oil passage between an inner surface of the slide bore is provided on the valve spool coaxially with the slide bore to define the variable orifice, and has an outside diameter set constant over axially entire length. This facilitates the dimensional control of the variable orifice, so that the variation in property of the variable orifice for every hydraulic pressure control valve may be easily suppressed.

    • A thermal electrostatic ink-jet recording apparatus includes an orifice for storing and jetting ink. The orifice is formed between first and second plate members and a longitudinal array of heating elements is formed on one of the plate members and is covered by an insulating layer. An electrically conductive layer is formed either on the insulating layer or the other plate member and cooperates with a counter electrode supporting a recording medium to apply an electrostatic field to ink in the orifice. The electrically conductive layer includes a central portion that extends substantially to the egress of the orifice in the area where ink is contained in the orifice and peripheral portions on either side of the orifice that are not in contact with the ink and that are spaced substantially away from the egress of the orifice. The spacing of the peripheral portion away from the egress of the orifice prevents a gas discharge phenomenon that induces instability in ink jetting.
