    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveguide and an integrated circuit which can be miniaturized.SOLUTION: A waveguide 1 includes a substrate 11 and a member (e.g. an air) which covers at least a part of the substrate, and is 2 or more in refractive index difference with the substrate. The substrate is formed with a plurality of concave portions 12 which are arranged on the upper surface of the substrate and includes a circular arc at least in a part of the side surface thereof. The inner diameter of the concave portions is 50 nm or less with the space between adjoining concave portions being equal to or less than the inner diameter thereof. The concave portions are filled with the member (e.g. an air) and formed with an air disk 13. When one end of the air disk 13 is irradiated with light beams, a local near-field light is generated on the side surface of the air disk, and the sequential generation of this near-field light on the side surfaces of the adjoining air disks allows the light beams to be propagated on the waveguide 1.
