    • An intellectual lamp unit able to be installed on a conventional lamp socket controlled by a wall switch includes a bypass connected in parallel with a wall switch and provided with a resistance or a diode for producing potential difference or power phase difference when the wall switch is turned off. An intellectual lamp to be installed on a conventional lamp socket consists of a lamp main body disposed therein with a power processing circuit, a detecting switch, a charging circuit, a charging battery, a driving circuit, a microprocessor and a lamplight source. When the wall switch is turned on or off under the condition of normal power supply, the lamplight source can be controlled to produce or extinguish lighting, and during blackout, the lamplight source can be started to produce emergency lighting immediately, supplied with power by the charging battery.

    • Methods and systems consistent with the present invention include developing a real-time caution and warning (CW) and system health management (HM) software, having an architecture that partitions the application software into two major components: a) a Bytecode, which is an organized collection of CW and/or HM data objects that defines the components and attributes of that particular application function within the given system, and b) a software entity, called the Virtual Engine (VE), which is executed within an embedded system, which takes as its input the “Bytecode” that it manipulates according to a predefined instruction set. The system user or designer can define, design, test, and validate the system using a user-friendly tool. The VE is intended to be reusable within the CW and system HM application domain.

    • An apparatus and method of reducing and fixating bone fragments during osteosynthesis is disclosed. An internal fixation plate has first and second arms forming an acute angle. Attachment locations adapted to secure the plate to bone are located at distal portions of the respective arms. A third attachment location is located intermediate the first and second attachment locations. The arms have both a rigid retainer portion to assist in aligning opposing bone fragments and a flexible portion that desirably conforms to the surface of the bone to which it is to be fastened without requiring a surgeon to attempt to bend the plate prior to fastening it to the bone. A method is described for using the plate in combination with a tension-wire method that uses monocortical screws with stainless-steel wire to reduce and fixate a fracture.

    • A process for manufacturing electronic device packages includes a step of forming a metal sheet into a runner part and a plurality of spaced apart terminal parts. The runner part extends in a longitudinal direction. The terminal parts are connected to the runner part and are aligned in the longitudinal direction. Each of the terminal parts includes a pair of spaced apart connecting legs that have lower inserting sections connected to the runner part, and upper soldering sections which extend from the lower inserting sections and which are offset from each other in a transverse direction relative to the longitudinal direction so as to define an inserting gap therebetween. The process further includes the steps of positioning an electronic element in the gap in each terminal part, and respectively connecting the upper soldering sections to two opposite side faces of the electronic element.
