    • An antenna is formed by attaching a metallic chassis to a dielectric base plate on which are formed an input electrode, a connector electrode and grounding areas. The metallic chassis has a planar part serving as its radiating part and attachment parts formed by bending mutually opposite edge parts of this planar part substantially perpendicularly thereto, and the input electrode, the connector electrode and one of the grounding areas are each connected to either of the attachment parts. An antenna unit is formed by mounting the metallic chassis of such an antenna inside an opening formed in a printed circuit board on which are formed a feed electrode and grounding electrodes formed with an edge portion of each abutting this opening and by connecting the input electrode to the feed electrode, and the grounding electrode to one of the grounding areas.

    • An antenna unit which has a high gain and a wide bandwidth at a low resonance frequency thereof. The antenna unit comprises an antenna body and a power radiation electrode. The antenna body comprises a rectangular-prism-like substrate comprising a dielectric material, whose major ingredients are e.g., barium oxide, aluminum oxide and silica. A power supply conductor is provided in the substrate and is made of copper or copper alloy and is wound in a spiral in the direction of height of the substrate. A power supply terminal for applying a voltage to the power supply conductor is provided on a surface of the substrate. Further, a power radiation electrode, which comprises, e.g., a nearly rectangular metallic plate made of copper, copper alloy or aluminum, is provided on the surface of the substrate of the antenna body. This power radiation electrode is electrically isolated from the power supply conductor.

    • A matching circuit and an antenna apparatus which, though small-sized, can be used in a radio apparatus which transmits and receives radio waves having a wide range of frequencies. A matching circuit includes an inductance element formed of a chip inductor connected in series with an antenna body, a first capacitance element formed of a trimmer capacitor, and a second capacitance element formed of a chip capacitor, which capacitance elements are connected between respective ends of the inductance element and a ground terminal, and thus in parallel to the antenna body. One end of the inductance element is connected to the power supply terminal of the antenna body, and the other end is connected to a power source for applying a voltage to the antenna body. The first capacitance element is connected between a ground and the connection point of the power supply terminal of the antenna body and the inductance element. The second capacitance element is connected between a ground and the connection point of the inductance element and the power source.

    • A resonator having an improved spurious characteristic is provided.
