    • A computer-based method of conditioning reservoir model data includes performing a modeling process within a 3D stratigraphic grid to generate an initial model including one or more facies objects within the model volume, the modeling process including parametric distributions, initial and boundary conditions as well as depositional and erosional events to define the facies objects within the model volume. The mismatch between this initial model and the conditioning well data and potential input trend model is applied to compute a locally variable constraint model. The method further includes executing a multiple point statistics simulation with this constraint model that varies between completely constrained by the initial model at locations where the initial model is consistent with known well data and potential input trend models, and unconstrained by the initial model at locations where the initial model does not match known well data or potential input trend models to allow conformance to the known data.

    • An echo canceller and an echo cancellation method are provided. The echo canceller includes a self-adaptive filter, a voice signal detection portion and a path change detection portion; a far-end voice signal is propagated in an echo path through a speaker and is picked up by a microphone to form an echo signal. The self-adaptive filter is configured to receive the far-end voice signal as a training signal to simulate the echo path, and cancel the echo signal in a near-end signal. The voice signal detection portion is configured to detect a communication status, control the self-adaptive filter according to the communication status, and control startup of the path change detection portion according to the communication status. The path change detection portion is configured to detect whether a change occurs on the echo path, and control the self-adaptive filter according to whether the change occurs on the echo path.

    • A controller for providing a constant output current control signal in a switched mode power supply (SMPS) includes a conduction time compensation circuit that is configured to produce a compensated conduction time interval signal that includes compensation for a ringing waveform of a feedback signal. The compensated signal reflects more accurately the actual conductive time of a rectifying diode in a secondary winding of the switched mode power supply. In one embodiment, the compensated conduction time interval signal is used to generate a fixed ratio between the conduction time and the non-conduction time of the rectifying diode. In another embodiment, the controller also provides a constant voltage control signal.

    • A method for correlating data predicted by a processor physics-based geologic model to describe a subsurface region with obtained data describing the subsurface region. Data is obtained describing an initial state of the subsurface region. Data describing a subsequent state of the subsurface region is predicted. The predicted data is compared with the obtained data taking into account whether the obtained data or the predicted data represent a discontinuous event. A sensitivity of the predicted data is determined if the predicted data is not within an acceptable range of the obtained data. The data describing the initial state of the subsurface region is adjusted based on the sensitivity before performing a subsequent iteration of predicting data describing the subsequent state of the subsurface region. A representation of the subsurface region based on the data describing the subsequent state of the subsurface region is outputted.

    • A method of improving a geologic model of a subsurface region. One or more sets of parameter values are selected. Each parameter represents a geologic property. A cost and a gradient of the cost are obtained for each set. A geometric approximation of a parameter space defined by one or more formations is constructed. A response surface model is generated expressing the cost and gradient associated with each formation. When a finishing condition is not satisfied, at least one additional set is selected based at least in part on the response surface model associated with previously selected sets. Parts of the method are repeated using successively selected additional sets to update the approximation and the response surface model until the finishing condition is satisfied. Sets having a predetermined level of cost to a geologic model of the subsurface region and/or their associated predicted outcomes are outputted to update the geologic model.

An individual selector for each state can provide a visual indication of merit as pertains to each such state.
