    • A receiver circuit in a system for transferring data signals among integrated circuits or logic circuit blocks includes a receiving interface for allowing the data signal to be received at a correct timing. The receiving interface includes a detecting circuit for detecting whether or not a signal to be received has arrived at a detecting timing determined on the basis of a clock signal providing a timing base for signal receiving operation, a variable delay circuit inserted in a signal transfer path whose delay factor is controlled in dependence on the result of detection performed by the detecting circuit, and a flip-flop circuit for latching the signal outputted from the variable delay circuit in synchronism with the clock signal.

    • An engine control apparatus is configured to perform engine automatic stop to automatically stop an engine when predetermined engine stop conditions are satisfied and automatically restart the engine when predetermined engine restart conditions are satisfied. The stop conditions including that a vehicle speed decreases below a predetermined stop permission speed. The engine control apparatus includes a variation amount detection means for detecting a variation amount of a brake operation being performed by the vehicle driver during a deceleration period from when the vehicle has started to decelerate to when the vehicle speed has decreased below the stop permission speed, and a stop determination means for determining whether the engine automatic stop should be performed when the engine stop conditions are satisfied based on the variation amount detected by the variation amount detection means.

    • A vehicle control system is provided which is designed to stop or restart an engine automatically. The system is equipped with a vehicle speed determining circuit which determines the speed of the vehicle and has a dead zone around where a real speed of the vehicle is zero. The vehicle speed determining circuit has a characteristic in which when falling in the dead zone, the determined speed shows zero. When the determined speed is zero, and the real speed is expected to have dropped to zero, the system applies a first braking force to the wheel to keep the vehicle stopped. When the determined speed has become zero following the automatic stop of the engine, the system applies a second braking force smaller in magnitude than the first braking force to the wheel, thereby decelerating the vehicle slowly to avoid unexpected sudden deceleration.
