    • PURPOSE:To constitute a joint for thin-walled pipes more easily than by conventional methods by providing an expanded part to the end of the joint body, fitting a packing in its inside annular groove, supporting the expanded part by jigs of a given shape and letting said end part be bitten under pressure into the outside surface of the pipe to be connected. CONSTITUTION:An expanded part 3 is provided at the center of the pipe-inserting part 2 of the end of a joint body 1 by leaving a straight pipe part 5, and a packing 7 is fitted in the annular groove 4 of its inside surface. The expanded part 3 is then supported by the jigs 8, 8' formed with tapered faces 8a, 8a' on its inside, and the leading end of the straight pipe part 5 is pressed in the axial direction so that the edge 6 on the inside-diameter side is bitten into the outside surface of the pipe 10 to be connected. In this way, the straight pipe part 5 of the joint end deforms into arc form and is prevented from being disengaged from the joint body 1 of the bitten pipe 10. This method may be executed more easily than conventional methods and is suited for connection of thin-walled metal pipes.

    • PURPOSE:To manufacture a pivot bearing with small holes for supplying lubrication oil efficiently by forming small holes along the axle direction in the central hole of a cylinder member made of metal and push-pressing the end surface of the cylinder member in a recessed shape so as to form a bearing part. CONSTITUTION:A pipe 24 made of metal with a central hole 23 going through in the axial direction and a core metal 25 made of metal with its diameter slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the central hole 23 and its outer circumference formed in a serration shape are prepared. After inserting the core metal 25 into the central hole 23, the pipe 24 is compressed by a swagging process so as to shrink its diameter. Consequently, raised parts 25b on the outer circumference of the core metal 25 are brought in press-contact with the inner wall of the central hole 23 and the core metal 25 is integrated with the pipe 24 in one body so that a compound body 27 can be obtained. Plural compound bodies 28 can be obtained by cutting in a prescribed length l. Then, a central area of the end surface 28a of the compound body 28 is push-pressed by a pressing process so as to form a recessed part 28b. This recessed part 28b becomes a bearing part and small holes 26 opening to this recessed part 28b are opened outside the part where the rotary shaft of the bearing part is put in sliding contact and becomes a communication hole for supplying lubrication oil.
