    • The present invention is directed to a method and a device for dealiasing borders in a 3D interpolated view, the interpolated view comprising at least foreground pixels with foreground video information (V1 ) and background pixels with background video information (V2). The method comprises the step of detecting, in an interpolated disparity map, associated to the 3D interpolated view, an aliased border between the foreground pixels with a foreground disparity value (D1 ) and the background pixels with a background disparity value (D2), the aliased border delimiting an inner aliased contour formed by foreground pixels and an outer aliased contour formed by background pixel, the aliased border having the form of a stair line; determining a weighting/dealiasing coefficient (DC) for each pixel of the outer contour said coefficient corresponding to the part of the pixel area included in the virtual right triangle defined by the two sides of each stair line to the area of the pixel; calculating video information for each pixel of the outer contour in combining the background video information and the foreground video information in a proportion defined by the determined weighting/dealiasing coefficient (DC) and replacing video information for each pixel of the outer contour by the calculated video information.

    • The invention relates to layered depth data. In multi-view images, there is a large amount of redundancy between images. Layered Depth Video format is a well-known formatting solution for formatting multi-view images which reduces the amount of redundant information between images. In LDV, a reference central image is selected and information brought by other images of the multi- view images that are mainly regions occluded in the central image are provided. However, LDV format contains a single horizontal occlusion layer, and thus fails rendering viewpoints that uncover multiple layers dis-occlusions. The invention uses light filed content which offers disparities in every directions and enables a change in viewpoint in a plurality of directions distinct from the viewing direction of the considered image enabling to render viewpoints that may uncover multiple layer dis-occlusions which may occurs with complex scenes viewed with wide inter-axial distance.

    • Various implementations provide techniques to prevent excessive parallax, depth, or disparity from being passed through to a viewer. In one particular implementation, it is determined that a depth indicator for an object in a stereoscopic image pair of a video sequence is outside of a target range. One or more images of the stereoscopic image pair is modified so that the depth indicator for the object is within the target range. In other implementations, a depth transition between the object and another portion of the video sequence is smoothed. In further implementations, the stereoscopic image pair is replaced with a 2D image pair that includes the object. In yet further implementations, a resulting video sequence includes (i) one or more stereoscopic image pairs having non-zero disparity and for which the depth indicator is within the target range for the entire image pair, and (ii) one or more 2D image pairs.

At present there is no standard supporting the acquisition and transmission of multidimensional information for an exhaustive over-view of the different parameters upon which a light-field depends. As such acquired light-field data for different cameras have a diversity of formats. The notion of pixel beam, which represents a volume occupied by a set of rays of light in an object space of an optical system of a camera is thus introduced. The method according to the invention enables to provide data representative of a collection of pixel beams describing a first optical system that is agnostic since these data are obtained by imaging the collection of pixel beams through a second optical system. Such data representative of a collection of pixel beams enable the generation of parametrized output images from which post-processing.
