摘要： A display substrate includes a transparent plate and a liquid crystal dispersion adjuster. The display substrate includes a display area and a peripheral area surrounding the display area. The liquid crystal dispersion adjuster is formed in the peripheral area to modify the movement of the liquid crystal. The dispersion adjuster includes enhancing parts and a suppression part. The enhancing parts increase the dispersion of the liquid crystal, and the suppression part reduces the dispersion of the liquid crystal, thereby reducing non-filling area of the liquid crystal and the contamination of a seal-line.

The liquid crystal composition includes a first class including a neutral liquid crystal compound, and a second class including a polar liquid crystal compound having at least one fluorine atom. The second class includes a liquid crystal compound represented by Chemical Formula (I): R1—CF2O—R2 (I) where R1 and R2 may be the same or different, and has an aromatic ring having at least one fluorine atom. The liquid crystal compound represented by Chemical Formula (I) is included at less than about 22 wt % of the total content of the liquid crystal composition in one example.

The sealant may further include a curing agent, a coupling agent, and a filler. A display device includes a first substrate having a display area, a second substrate opposite to the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, and a sealing pattern contacting the first substrate and the second substrate so as substrate to combine the first substrate and the second substrate with each other. The sealing pattern may include a photoinitiator having an oxime ester compound or a 2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl-diphenyl-phosphineoxide compound. In a method of manufacturing the display device, a sealant including a photoinitiator having an oxime ester compound or a 2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl-diphenyl-phosphineoxide compound, and a curing resin is coated along a peripheral portion of the first substrate to form a sealing pattern. A liquid crystal is dropped on the first substrate. The second substrate opposite to the first substrate is disposed on the first substrate. The sealing pattern is cured to combine the first substrate and the second substrate with each other.
