摘要： A video decoder is connected with a block distortion detector for specifying the boundary of blocks where block boundary occurs, using decoded image data and information of motion vectors, which are supplied from the video decoder; and a block distortion remover for subjecting pixels in the vicinity of the block boundary of the decoded image to filtering on the basis of the result of detection from the block distortion detector, thereby removing the block distortion. Therefore, block distortion is accurately detected when a compressed and coded image is decoded, and the detected block distortion is removed while minimizing the blurriness of the image.

摘要： A video signal output apparatus is provided. Video format information that can be displayed on a video display apparatus is detected by an I/O unit from an input data. A comparing unit compares the detected video formats with video formats that can be converted by a converting unit, and then common video formats are set as selectable video formats and output as menu video. A user sees the menu video and selects a video format. Simultaneously with the converted digital video data, video format information is also inserted into the output data and then outputted. Accordingly, the video display apparatus switches the video format of the screen. The user can select a most suitable video format from the menu screen by only connecting the apparatuses, and then the video format of the video display image apparatus is also switched automatically.

摘要： An apparatus and method for improving the VT filter performance for moving pictures by deinterlacing. A VT filter unit receives data of a deinterlacing target field (field #n) and data of forward and backward fields of the target field (fields #n−1 and #n+1). A difference operation unit receives data of two frames including the field #n, and calculates the sum of the absolute values of differences between these frames. A filter coefficient setting unit decides a filter coefficient based on the sum of the absolute values of the differences. The VT filter unit subjects the inputted pixels to the filtering by using the filter coefficient to generate an interpolation pixel, and outputs the generated interpolation pixel. A double-speed converter composes the interlaced image and the interpolation pixel to convert the frame rate to be doubled, and outputs the converted image as a progressive image.
