    • The present invention is a vibratory patient support system. The support system has at least one bladder, at least one vibrational device, and first and second control units that respectively control (a) the inflation and deflation of the at least one bladder and (b) vibrational device. The at least one bladder (i) inflates when receiving a fluid at a faster rate than the fluid exiting the bladder; (ii) deflates when the fluid leaves the bladder at a faster rate than the fluid entering the bladder, and (iii) has a top surface that allows a user to apply pressure thereon and a bottom surface. The vibrational device (a) is positioned (i) under the bottom surface of the bladder, or (ii) within the bladder and below the top surface of the at least one bladder so it does not contact the top surface; and (b) generates a vibrational force. The first control unit can adjust the inflation of the at least one bladder. The second control unit can adjust the vibration forces generated from the vibration device. The first and second control units can operate in conjunction with each other to provide the desired vibrational application to the user.

    • The present invention is a protective and pressure normalizing device for a body extremity. The device has a three-dimensional gelastic member, and a cover. The three-dimensional gelastic member has a predetermined shape to conform to the body extremity and a plurality of openings. The opening are at least positioned on the top side of the gelastic member. The cover encases the gelastic member and is removable therefrom. The cover also has an upper side, a underside, and a plurality of edges which correspond to the shape of the gelastic member. The underside contacts the body extremity, while the upper side has a plurality of connectors designed to bring one edge of the cover to a predetermined distance from another edge of the cover. Thereby, the protective and pressure normalizing device supports the body extremity.

    • The present invention is a patient support system. The system includes a mattress unit, an inflatable bladder, a manifold plate and a quick release plate. The mattress unit contains the inflatable bladder. The manifold plate allows air to enter into and be released from the bladder. The manifold plate has a set of female receptacles open to the exterior surface of the mattress unit. The quick release plate has a set of male connectors that correspond to the female receptacles. Each male connector has a slidable variance, permitting it to be removably received from the corresponding female receptacle. Thus, when any pulling force is applied to the quick release plate, the quick release plate disengages from the manifold plate resulting in the bladder deflating within a predetermined time frame.

    • An inflatable air pad, or fluid impervious pad, is provided having three layers, the top and bottom being joined together to form an enclosed envelope with a middle layer interposed between defining an upper and lower chamber. Fluid is allowed to flow from one side of the middle layer to the other, such that there is uniform pressure throughout. A sealable port is provided in the enclosed envelope for the injection of fluid under pressure. The middle layer is attached to the top layer in a series of seals or attachment points in a rectangular array and is similarly sealed to the bottom layer in a similar rectangular pattern; however, the two patterns are positioned 180 degrees out of phase with each other. These patterns form a series of small cushion areas in the upper and lower chambers respectively and the cushion areas are nested within each other on an offset basis. The individual seals or attachment points are preferably square and are oriented such that lines of maximum stress in the sealed layers are perpendicular to the sides of the square pattern. A number of further seals are formed within the body of the pad, specifically, a preferred pad is divided into three sections with a series of seal lines joining all three layers running lengthwise of the pad parallel to the sides of the pad, thus creating a middle section and two side sections. Interruptions are provided in those seals so that fluid can flow between the sections and the pressure remain uniform throughout.

    • A cushioning device having a first deep cell inflatable bladder, a first restraint structure, a pump and an attachment. The first deep cell inflatable bladder has a first side, a second side, an upper surface and a lower surface. The first restraint structure has a top surface and a bottom surface. The pump has (a) a maximum inflation mode that inflates the first deep cell inflatable bladder so the bladder's upper surface and the first restraint's top surface are in or approximately in the same plane and (b) a normal operating inflation mode that provides sufficient inflation to (A) prevent the first bladder's upper surface from contacting the first bladder's lower surface, (B) decrease (i) the formation of debuticus ulcers on a patient and (ii) the patient's tissue interface pressure, and (C) allow the restraint structure to inhibit and/or restrain the patient from rolling off the first deep cell inflatable bladder. The attachment attaches at least a portion of the first bladder's first side to the first restraint structure at a predetermined distance below the first restraint's top surface so (A) the first restraint during the normal operating mode inhibits and/or restrains the patient from rolling off the first deep cell inflatable bladder, and (B) the first restraint and first deep cell inflatable bladder provide lateral stability to allow the patient to get in and out of the cushioning device and facilitating patient transfers during the maximum inflate mode.
