    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide two-component developers of a small grain size which meets the requirements for higher fineness and higher image quality, has good conveyability within a developing device and is capable of forming toner images having definition, gradation characteristic, fine line reproducibility free of carrier adhesion. SOLUTION: The two-component developers containing polymerization process toners externally added with at least silica particulates and titanium oxide particulates and carries are characterized in that (a) the toners have an average grain size of 4 to 8 μm; (b) the carriers are the coated carriers formed by coating the particle surfaces of spherical composite core particles of 10 to 50 μm in average grain size formed by bonding hard magnetic particle powder and soft magnetic particle powder with a phenolic resin as a binder by using a silicone resin containing a coupling agent; (c) the coated carrier have a shape coefficient SF-1 of 100 to 130; (d) the coated carrier have saturation magnetization of 50 to 90 emu/g in 3 kiloersted; and (g) the fluidity of the developers is 30 to 50 (second/50 g).     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of unevenness in tint by thoroughly pulling up a drum from a coating fluid for an electric charge generating layer and keeping the drum stationary for specified seconds when the electric charge generating layer is formed by dip coating. SOLUTION: A drum 2 is held by an elevator 1 and soaked in a coating fluid 4 for an electric charge generating layer filled into a coating tank 3. The entire drum 2 is soaked and the drum 2 is pulled up at a prescribed rate to stick the coating fluid on the drum 2. After the drum 2 is thoroughly pulled up from the coating fluid 4, it is kept stationary for >=T/2 sec, preferably T/2 to T sec (T is the boiling point of a solvent contained in the coating fluid 4) to form the electric charge generating layer of the objective electrophotographic photoreceptor. The drum as an electrically conductive substrate may be a film of a metal such as Al, Ni, Fe, Cu or Au or an alloy. The solvent may be tetrahydrofuran having 65 deg.C boiling point, dichloroethane having 84 deg.C boiling point and cyclohexane having 81 deg.C boiling point.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing method by which a stable image free from surface staining is outputted even when copying processing is repeated over a long term or even when a special using state where toner consumption is low extends over a long time in a compact developing device, and to provide the developing device. SOLUTION: In this developing method, toner is supplied from a toner replenishing part 6 to a developer stirring part 3, the supplied toner and developer are mixed by using stirring members 2a and 2b in the stirring part 3, and the toner is electrified, and carried and fed by a developer carrier 1, so that an electrostatic latent image formed on a latent image carrier is developed as a visible image. In the method, the relationship between a weakly electrified and/or reversely electrified toner component amount p1 (%) in the toner electrification amount distribution at the entrance 4 of the developer stirring part and a weakly electrified and/or reversely electrified toner component amount p2 (%) in the toner electrification amount distribution at the exit 5 of the developing stirring part is set to (p1-p2)/p1>=0.20.
