摘要： A method and apparatus for high rate CDMA wireless communication in which a set of individually gain adjusted subscriber channels are formed via the use of a set of orthogonal subchannel codes (Wi) having a small number of PN spreading chips per orthogonal waveform period. Data to be transmitted via one of the transmit channels is low code rate error correction encoded (134) and sequence repeated before being modulated with one of the subchannel codes, gain adjusted (152, 154, 156, 158), and summed (160) with data modulated using the other subchannel codes. The resulting summed data is modulated using a user long code and a pseudorandom spreading code (PN code) and upconverted for transmission.

At the mobile station (18), a quantifiable parameter of a signal transmitted by a second base station of the second system is measured. 摘要： An acknowledgement method in a wireless communication system. Initially, a reverse supplemental channel (R-SCH) frame is received at a base station. The base station then transmits an acknowledgement (ACK) signal if quality of the received R-SCH frame is indicated as being good. A negative acknowledgement (NAK) signal is transmitted only if the received data frame is indicated as being bad but has enough energy such that, if combined with energy from retransmission of the data frame, it would be sufficient to permit correct decoding of the data frame. If the best base station is known, the acknowledgement method may reverse the transmission of the acknowledgement signals for the best base station so that only NAK signal is sent. A positive acknowledgement is assumed in the absence of an acknowledgement. This is done to minimize the transmit power requirements.

摘要： Techniques for Walsh space assignment are disclosed. In one aspect, a list of Walsh functions is maintained in the base station (104) and mobile stations (106). A Walsh space indicator is transmitted to indicate which of the Walsh functions on the list are to be used in communication. The Walsh space indicator is updated according to the dynamically varying transmit power available or the use of Walsh functions within the base station.
