    • PURPOSE:To measure the mass flow rate of flowing fluid highly accurately in real time by providing a horizontal U-tube at a part of a fluid pipe line, and providing both strain gages for measuring bending moment and for measuring axial tension at the connecting part of the tube and the pipe line. CONSTITUTION:A bending-moment measuring strain gage 5 and an axial-tension measuring strain gage 6 are stuck to a joint 3. A 0 point is set under the state wherein mixed fluid 1 is not present. A fluid weight rhogV in a U-tube 4 is measured with the bending-moment measuring strain gage 5 as the bending moment M=rhogV(e+e') in a vertical plane. The resultant force F of centrifugal forces acting on the U-tube 4 is measured with the axial tension measuring strain gage 6 as the axial tension of F=2rhoV.V /(r+d/2). Here, the distance (r) between a center 7 of the U-tube 4 and the inner wall, the diameter (d) of the U-tube 4, the distance (e) between a center of a figure 8 and the center 7, the distance e' between the center 7 and the gage sticking position and the volume V of the U-tube 4 are known. Therefore, the mass flow rate rhoV can be obtained highly accurately in real time by measuring the bending moment M and the axial tension F.

    • PURPOSE:To completely prevent leak of water through the outer periphery of a steel pipe, by a method wherein an initial tightening force is previously exerted on waterproof rubber located to the outer periphery of a steel pipe water channel, and after concrete placed on the outer periphery of the waterproof rubber is cured, the initial tightening force is released. CONSTITUTION:Waterproof rubber 12 is disposed to the outer periphery of a steel pipe water channel 11, and a loading plate 13 and a tightening bolt 14, having the forward end threadedly attached to the loading plate 13, are inserted into a hole 12a formed in the waterproof rubber 12. A nut 15 is threadedly fastened to the base end screw part of the tightening bolt 4 to exert an initial tightening force on a waterproof rubber 12 through the loading plate 13. Concrete 17 is placed in the outer periphery of the waterproof rubber 12 to form a side wall 3 of a water tank 1. By releasing the initial tightening force by unscrewing the nut 15 after the concrete 17 is cured, the waterproof rubber 12 is expanded to block a gap between the concrete 17 and the waterproof rubber. This enables complete prevention of leak of water in a water tank 1 through the outer periphery of the steel pipe water channel 11.
