    • A first device receives a request from a remote device to relinquish at least a portion of an existing reservation in a wireless communications network (e.g., a WiMedia network). The existing reservation is between the first device and a second device. Also, the existing reservation was initiated by the second device and includes a first allocation of resources of the wireless communications network. The first device forwards the request from the first device to the second device, and sends to the second device information indicating a current view of resource utilization in the wireless communications network. This view is from a perspective of the first device. Also, first device may receive a request from the second device for a second allocation of resources of the wireless communications network between the first device and the second device. Such a request may be based on the resource utilization information provided by the first device. Further, the first device may also send, to the second device, an acceptance of the request for the second allocation of resources. Based on this acceptance, the first and second device may communicate according to the second allocation of resources.

    • A method, apparatus, and computer program product are disclosed for wireless communications networks, such as WiMedia networks, to solve problems of channel congestion, searching for candidate channels to select, and achieving reliable channel changes that will be recognized by other devices in the network. A wireless communications device selects a channel finding technique in a first stage, based on whether the device has any active connections in a current channel. The device then performs the selected channel finding technique with a plurality of channels to find a candidate channel. Then the initiating device sends a request to at least one remote device to change its channel from the current channel to the candidate channel during a time slot within a repeating time interval. If the request is successful, the initiating device receives an acceptance of the request from the remote device. Then in a second stage, the initiating device selects a channel changing technique based on whether the device has any active connections in the current channel. The initiating device then executes the selected channel changing technique to change a channel from the current channel to the candidate channel, thereby establishing the desired new connection across the candidate channel with the remote device.

In the context of a method, a method is provided that includes causing a network scan to be initiated and receiving the results of said network scan, the results comprising information regarding an access point and determining, based on the received results, whether the access point comprises two or more network interfaces. The method further includes causing a guest access sharing configuration procedure to be initiated if the access point comprises two or more network interfaces. The guest access sharing configuration procedure includes causing guest access information to be uploaded to a server. Another method is provided that includes receiving and storing guest access information, receiving a request to obtain the guest access information and causing the guest access information to be provided to a device if the device has permission to access it.
