摘要： A system for illuminating an environment, includes a first and second angularly varying light emitting devices operable to adjust light flux output into different angular bins individually, the second angularly varying light emitting device further comprises an imager positioned to receive light reflected from the environment from the first and second angularly varying light emitting devices, wherein when the first angularly varying light emitting device emits first light flux onto on object or individual in the environment and the object or individual occludes the first light flux creating a shadow region on a surface of the environment, the second angularly varying light emitting device emits second light flux from one or more second light sources into an angular bin that illuminates the shadow region. In one embodiment, the shadow region is identified in part by differentiating between a possible dark surface and a region comprising a shadow.

The film may be an extruded microcapillary film or interior surfaces may comprise a surface modified to produce a surface relief profile. The active region may cool or warm the environment, which may comprise an individual.

The first region includes a plurality of light extraction features that redirect a portion of light traveling within the film in a waveguide condition that mixes within the legs and the body out of one or more of the opposing faces of the film in the first region. A method of producing a device is also disclosed.

摘要： An enhanced light fixture containing a volumetric diffuser to control the spatial luminance uniformity and angular spread of light from the light fixture is disclosed. The volumetric diffuser provides increased spatial luminance uniformity and efficient control over the illuminance such that power reductions, reduced cost or reduced size may be achieved. The volumetric diffuser contains one or more regions of volumetric light scattering particles. The spread of illumination of light from a light emitting source can be efficiently controlled by using a thin, low cost, volumetric, diffuser to direct the light in the desired direction. This allows the reduction in number of light sources, a reduction in power requirements, or a more tailored illumination. When the volumetric diffuser is used in combination with a waveguide to extract light, the light is efficiently coupled out of the waveguide in a thin, planar surface. This transmissive diffuser can be coupled to a reflecting element such that the resulting combination is a light reflecting element with a desired light scattering profile.
