    • An image display apparatus, e.g. a head-mounted image display apparatus, which is capable of satisfactorily correcting field curvature and other aberrations in an optical system simultaneously, and which enables even an image of high resolution to be sufficiently clearly observed, without forming an intermediate image. The apparatus has an image display device (6) for displaying an image, and an optical system for projecting an image formed by the image display device (6) without forming an intermediate image and for leading the projected image to an observer's eyeball (1). The optical system includes at least one concave mirror (4) having a rotationally asymmetric reflecting surface which is concave toward the observer's eyeball and decentered with respect to an optical axis, and at least one optical element (9) of positive refractive power which is disposed between the concave mirror (4) and the image display device (6).

    • A film cassette assembly has a cassette and a roll of film wound on a spool and contained in the cassette. When the spool is rotated, the roll of film is rotated together with it in order to feed a film leader out of the cassette through a film passage mouth. To rotate the spool and the roll of film together, the film cassette assembly presses an axial end portion of the outermost periphery of the roll of film or presses the film's circumferential peripheral surface. Where the axial end portion of the outermost periphery of the roll of film is to be pressed, at least one of a pair of flanges of the spool is elastically deformed to clamp both axial side edges of the outermost periphery of the roll of film. Where the circumferential surface of the outermost periphery of the roll of film is to be pressed, a projection and an elastic member are provided within the cassette.

    • A photographic film cassette has photographic film wound on a spool and contained in a cassette shell. Rotation of the spool in the unwinding direction causes a leader to advance through a passageway and exit from a passage mouth. The passageway is defined by a pair of opposed inside faces. The first inside face confronts the emulsion surface of the photographic film, and the second inside face confronts its back surface. A separator claw is formed adjacent to the first inside face, and separates the leader from the roll. The separator claw is formed to project only to a small degree so that the photographic film is prevented from being rubbed and scratched thereby, even when the diameter of the roll is minimized. In a preferred embodiment, a camera for use with such a leader-advancing cassette has a receiving port, which is open to the inside of a cassette receiving chamber, and receives the photographic film as exited from the cassette. A front wall of the receiving port is formed so as to prevent the photographic film from being rubbed and scratched by the first inside face of the cassette.

    • A self-advancing film cassette has at least one separation claw for separating a film leader from a roll of film. This separation claw is disposed within a cassette shell so that it will contact an outermost peripheral surface of a photographic film on the outer side of an area where a picture frame is to be formed. The separation claw is so configured that the contact position between the tip thereof and an end face of a film leader end is 1/3 or more of the film thickness when measured from the outer surface of the photographic film. The film leader projects most at a portion corresponding to the separation claw, and the film leader is formed to be narrow so that it will not be stuck to the film roll. In one embodiment, the film leader is subjected to deformation treatment to form a corrugated leading portion, or to rigidity increasing treatment to form a more rigid leading portion.
