    • A composite video signal is supplied to chrominance and luminance signal separators. A chrominance signal is compared by a phase comparator with an average phase signal, and a difference between them is supplied to a control terminal of a phase modulator. The chrominance signal is input to the phase modulator. The phase averaging circuit, phase comparator, and phase modulator together constitute a hue emphasizing circuit. An output from the hue emphasizing circuit (output from phase modulator) is supplied to a mixer via a gain control amplifier (GCA). The chrominance signal is input to a level detector, where it is envelope-detected. An output from the level detector is supplied to a gain control terminal of the GCA. An output from the GCA emphasizing circuit (output from GCA) is a hue- and saturation-emphasized chrominance signal, and is supplied to the first input terminal of the mixer. A luminance signal is put to a phase shifter via a mixer. A hue-emphasized chrominance signal which is output from the phase comparator is subjected to quadratic differentiation by a differential circuit, and is input as a gain control input to a mixer. The last-mentioned mixer, differential circuit, and phase shifter together constitute an aperture compensator. The shift amount is set in the phase shifter, so as to compensate for a difference between the chrominance and luminance signals generated from the hue emphasizing circuit and the aperture compensator, respectively.

    • A data recording/reproducing apparatus simultaneously records parallel data in recording tracks the number of which corresponds to the number of parallel data to be recorded, and sequentially reproduces the contents of the recording tracks to form serial data. A plurality of video signals for cooperatively forming a single picture are used for the parallel data. When one picture is quartered, four parallel video signals are simultaneously recorded in four recording tracks. By reproducing the contents of the recording tracks for each track in a sequential manner, one serial video signal corresponding to the picture is obtained. With this arrangement, high resolution picture data obtained from a solid-state image pickup device can be recorded and reproduced without the use of a specially designed parallel/serial converter.

    • A system for recording a video signal derived from a solid state image sensing device including a number of picture cells is disclosed. The video signal is read-out of the solid state image sensing device and is recorded on a magnetic tape of a video tape recording device. When a shutter release button is pushed, the magnetic tape is rewound by a given length and then the magnetic tape is traveled forward. During the forward movement of the magnetic tape, the video tape recording device is set into a reproduction mode and the video signal which has been previously recorded is reproduced. As soon as the video signal is not detected from the magnetic tape, the video tape recording device is changed into a record mode and after a given servo lock time, a shutter is opened for a given period. Immediately after the shutter is closed again, the video signal is read-out of the solid state image sensing device and then is recorded on the magnetic tape which is traveled at a given constant speed.

    • In an optical video disc player, a still picture mode reproduction is effected by returning a light spot on an optical video disc by one track pitch in its radial direction after each revolution of the disc. The displacement of the light spot is carried out by supplying a returning pulse to a moving coil coupled with an objective lens to move the objective lens in a disc radial direction. In order to cause the light spot to trace a track precisely, a tracking error due to an eccentricity of the disc is detected and the objective lens is moved in the disc radial direction in accordance with the detected tracking error. An amplitude of the returning pulse is modulated in accordance with a velocity component of the displacement of the objective lens under the tracking condition, so that the light spot is returned accurately by one track pitch.

The negative feedback loop includes an envelope detector for detecting a descent of a reproduced signal, a sampling pulse generator for producing a sampling pulse in response to a first descent during the displacement of the light spot, a pulse generator for producing a returning pulse having a constant amplitude, a sawtooth generator actuated by the returning pulse to produce a sawtooth signal, a phase comparator for sampling the sawtooth signal by the sampling signal to produce a control signal and a pulse level modulator for modifying the level of the returning pulse with the control signal.

    • A solid-state image pickup device has an image pickup element with a light-receiving surface on which a plurality of photoelectric conversion cells are arranged; a timing circuit, coupled to at least one and less than all of said photoelectric conversion cells of the image pickup element, for generating a timing signal when an output level of the photoelectric conversion cell corresponding to the amount of light incident on the photoelectric conversion cell connected thereto reaches a predetermined reference level; and a data reading unit coordinated with a shutter, coupled to the timing circuit for optically shielding the light-receiving surface of the image pickup element in response to the timing signal.
