    • Glow plug with a metallic hollow body 1 in which a ceramic heating rod 2 is arranged such that it projects axially on one side of hollow body 1. The heating rod 2 is formed of a ceramic conductor 6 which is embedded in a ceramic insulator 7 and is connected to the power supply terminals, i.e., to ground via the metal of hollow body 1 and via a plug terminal 3. The contacts of the ceramic conductor 6 with the power supply terminals are formed by contact surfaces 8, 9 on the ceramic conductor 6, via which the conductor is in contact, on the one hand, with metallic hollow body 1, and with plug terminal 3, on the other hand. The contacts are preferably pressure loaded by generating a prestress between the components in contact. Preferably, metallic contact parts, for example, contact rings 10, 11, are provided at the contact points between the contact surfaces 8, 9 and the metallic hollow body 1 and plug terminal 3.

    • The invention is directed to a protective arrangement for a longitudinally extendible machine component such as the measuring arm of a machine such as a coordinate measuring apparatus. The protective arrangement includes a bellows which at least partially surrounds the machine component and has a plurality of structural parts at least one of which is deflectable relative to the longitudinal axis of the machine component in response to a contact of the bellows with an object or person. Each of the structural parts has a cutout formed therein and the parts are disposed in the bellows so as to cause the cutouts to be mutually aligned in the undeflected condition of the bellows. A light barrier directs a light beam through the cutouts which becomes at least partially shaded in response to a deflection of the one structural part. The light barrier generates a signal in response to the shading and this signal is supplied to a protective circuit in the control unit of the machine which can, for example, initiate an emergency stoppage of the machine component thereby preventing damage.

    • The hydrodynamic control coupling has primary and secondary vane wheels (2,4 respectively) inclined to the coupling axis (20) and a working space (5) which is provided with an inlet (6) and an outlet (7) for the working medium, the working medium capable of being diverted from the working space into a receiving chamber (10) via tangential bores (7) running in the direction of the flow, a valve (8) being provided which determines the rate at which the working space fills. In accordance with the invention, the receiving chamber for the working medium is located radially inwardly of the working space and is defined by walls of the primary and secondary vane wheels. Such an arrangement of the coupling enables it to be constructed with smaller dimensions and to be simply controlled.
