SOLUTION: This motor has an armature including a back yoke 3 formed into a cylindrical shape and a coil 9 disposed on the cylindrical circumferential surface thereof, and a magnet 6 formed into a cylindrical shape with a plurality of poles on the cylindrical circumferencial surface. The cylindrical circumferencial surface of the back yoke 3 and that of the magnet 6 are disposed concentrically with prescribed spacing, and the coil 9 is formed by covering a foil-shaped conductor with a flexible insulating material into a coil sheet 4.

SOLUTION: A CPU 15 controls respective parts of a device and a first optical pickup 3 (first PU) is moved to the readout requirement position and starts a reading after it completes its movement. A second pickup 3 (second PU) is moved from the readout requirement position of the first PU to the readout completion position of one reproduction unit and starts the reading of a second reproduction unit after it completes its movement. In the midway in which the second PU reads data, the first PU completes the reading of the first reproduction unit to store them in a buffer memory 17 and it is moved again to the readout completion position of the second PU and starts the reading of the third reproduction unit after it completes its movement. Thus, the device becomes reactable to the data requirement of a host computer 14 at high speed by repeating these operations.

Thus, recording and reproducing of the high and low density optical disks are easily performed.
