    • A fluid pressure controller includes a housing formed with an input port, a discharge port and an output port, a spool axially slidably mounted in a bore provided in the housing, a spring for keeping the spool in its inoperative position, and an electricity/power converter for imparting to the spool an axial driving force corresponding to the amplitude of an electric signal applied to the converter. First and second chambers are defined by the inner peripheral surface of the bore and both end faces of the spool. The spool is formed with an internal passage connecting the first and second chambers together and having its intermediate portion throttled to form a fixed-size orifice and with a peripheral channel at a point between the first chamber and the fixed-size orifice so as to communicate with the internal passage. The output port normally communicates with the second chamber. The spool is movable among a first position where the peripheral channel communicates with the input port, a second position where it is shut off from both the input port and the output port and a third position where it communicates with the discharge port. Thus when the output port is brought into communication with either the input port or the discharge port through the peripheral channel, hydraulic fluid will flow through the fixed-size orifice, thereby creating a pressure difference at both ends of the orifice, the pressure difference being equal to the output of the converter minus the biasing force of the spring.

    • A reference wheel velocity calculation apparatus for use in an automotive vehicle includes a device for sampling actual wheel velocities detected at a predetermined sampling cycle, a device to select a suitable velocity as the basis of the calculation of reference wheel velocity, and a calculator for calculating an intermediate reference velocity of the present sampling point from the selected wheel velocity by suppressing the variance of intermediate reference velocity within predetermined limit(s). Further, a greater one of the presently sampled selected wheel velocity and a calculated intermediate reference velocity is selected as a quasi-reference wheel velocity which is then smoothed according to index to obtain the reference wheel velocity. The limit of the variance may be changed in regard to the accelerometer provided in the vehicle. Also, the smoothing index may be changed with respect to the factors such as the behavior of the wheel velocity.

    • Disclosed is a radio apparatus in which modulating signals (I, Q signals) from an arithmetic/control unit are converted to analog signals, which are then applied to an orthogonal modulator. A modulated wave for transmission, which has been produced by orthogonally modulating a reference carrier wave by the modulating signals, is demodulated by the orthogonal detector. The arithmetic/control unit compares the modulating signals and the demodulated signals and, based upon the comparison, updates distortion compensation coefficients and applies pre-distortion processing to the modulating signal using the distortion compensation coefficients. Leakage carrier produced due to offset of the orthogonal modulator is detected and the arithmetic/control unit adjusts the level of the modulating signals or shifts the phase of the reference carrier wave in such a manner that the leakage carrier (offset) becomes zero.
